OK as promised, here is the follow-up on the CHUCK VS Disgruntled batteries incident.
None of this is by any means meant to stir up and re-kindle the social flogging that the owner has already received. A mistake was made in reference to improper batteries being used, it was fully admitted, and no one needs to go there again.
Now that we have that out of the way, here we go.
These first few pics show the CHUCK just as I received it.
You can clearly see where the gasses vented around the switch perpendicular to the CHUCK as I had assumed it would.

Adaptor and atty. threading removed.

End cap removed. This pile of carbon is what remains of the PRIMARY batteries that were in it.

Battery casing still inside CHUCK.

The internals removed.
Atomizer center post, switch and wiring, and battery casings.

Inside the CHUCK.

After a little clean up.
No body swelling AT ALL and the internal retainer was not compromised.

After cleaning it up, I could have stripped the body, refinished it and it would have been good to go. I decided to hang on to it just in case I ever needed more information. Despite about 30 attempts to do this on my own, I was never successful.
