"Chucking Vapor" in public places

vaping finally started taking off by me. That's great. There are no bans here, as of yet. But what I see and hear more and more of is "Sub ohm, DO IT!!!" We have many people happy puffing on eGo kits, Evods. They are happy, respectful, and hurting nobody. At my job, I am respectful. I vape in the bathroom or go outside, if I absolutely must. I have been at this for over three years, so I can go a full shift with my vape still in my purse. But there are a couple of guys coming in and blowing CLOUDS :vapor:(looks just like this) and the owner is talking about banning vaping altogether! He has no room to talk. He smokes like a chimney and sits right outside the door and puffs away while the smoke makes its way in every time that door opens and closes. But that is HIS castle, and he is the king of it . But my point is. Sub ohming is NOT okay indoors where smoking is not allowed! A little puff from an eGo kit will usually send the owners looking the other way to keep business, but a human fog machine is just obnoxious! Either take that outside, or keep a single coil 1.5 ohm rba on hand for indoor occasions! I can honestly see how these indoor bans are coming to be!

Clouds are one thing, fine. Do it at home though. I was in walmart this morning and this young looking dude (At least 21 he bought beer and they checked his id) but he was just blowing a ridiculous amount of vapor straight up in the air. There is a time and a place for it, and a time like this isn't the place. I feel it gives a negative perspective of vaping.

I understand that it SHOULD be legal. Doesn't mean it actually is. Vaping is still in limbo. We are still waiting for that other shoe to drop. Looks like we will be for quite some time. But we shouldn't push the envelope.

Edit-There is a B&M somewhere around here that will actually build you a sub-ohm coil (enter emoji for dynamite or grenade)

That's the 'problem' with having personal choice I suppose. Sometimes someone chooses to do something they can, but that they probably shouldn't, and then the ability to make a personal choice is removed for everyone.

I have absolutely nothing against cloud chasers and I defend their right to vape as they please - but in this case, why don't you have a quiet word with them and mention the owner has been mentioning their clouds as a reason to ban vaping. See if it works.

If not, it's no different to you as you vape in the bathroom or outside - but at least you tried.

I occasionally like to chase clouds, but most of the time I'm more on the flavor end of things. I do drip max vg, but unless I'm outside, I keep my exhaled vapor low so it dissipates quickly. If I'm in a crowded place outside I dont turn on the fog machine, and I blow my vapor strait up or strait down to keep it from becoming a nuisance. Blowing big clouds in a public place could be the equivalent of yelling "FIRE" only instead of yelling it you are creating "Smoke" (yes, I know its not smoke, but someone who doesnt know sees the fog rolling in above the registers and pulls the fire alarm.. stranger things have happened).

I vape everywhere except accept in clients offices (face of the company and all that), around kids, and where it's posted that vaping is not allowed. But I'll keep the clouds small and blow them strait down. Not really stealth vaping because I'm not couching down or hiding my mod or anything. I do this not because I dont want to get caught, but because I dont want to be a nuisance. A little respect for the people around you. In the bars (you can smoke in most bars in Texas) I dont hold back. One time our waitress kept coming by making yummy noises, lol. She mentioned at one point that she enjoyed coming by our table because it smelled so good and asked about the table we had turned into a mod stand (5 vapers with a setup or two each, most dripping so we just laid the juice out on the small round table so we could sample each others stuff - I shoulda got a picture).. lol Great additional benefit - better service because your table smells better :)
We went to the driving range and a bunch of our group was vaping - a few blowing big clouds - the only thing they did was kick on the fans :)

With it being a grey area in most places it turns into a situation where if you aren't bothering the people around you, you probably wont get harassed about it. Blowing huge clouds in the market seems like it could cause panic, so I'd steer away from that.. you are at the checkout line, just wait the extra minute and take it to the parking lot (though they were probably doing it for the attention).

As far as your boss goes, try having a conversation with him if he/she is reasonable. see if he will do a "if I dont see it" kinda rule. I hate wide rules intended to make the minority of idiots not doing stupid things... I can see how it would be hard to enforce a "no volume vaping" restriction, because someone will inevitably push the line.
Alternatively, maybe have a "your going to ruin it for the rest of us" conversation with the offenders. I've had to have that with a few buddies at times... its not ok to chase the clouds in the cheese cake factory...

I'm not a "cloud chaser", nor did I enjoy smoking around others that didn't smoke. I fully support personal freedoms, but like you I agree there is a time and place for everything. Luckily the high PG doesn't bother me in the least, and it helps with less vapor. The ban on vapeing in public could very well be a part of our future. There has been in our history , a growing "rebellion" against societal norms. With the public out roar we have experienced against smoke, the less informed will see vapor and conclude that it is smoke. I joined CASAA.

Do you realize that everyone who sub-ohms in public does not necessarily blow big clouds indoors? With that being said, every few days we have someone start a thread stereotyping those that choose to sub-ohm (because they don't), so you're right on time.

OP didn't call them snooty hipsters - only "noobs" so I thought that was an improvement.

The key to vaping etiquite in public to me is to always be respectful to those around you.

If you want to blow big clouds, fine. Just do it outdoors or at your home. Not in public places. :grr:

I recently needed to stay long term with my brother, who is a non-smoker and non-vaper. He's not against me vaping, but he doesn't like the smell and he claims it messes up his sinus's. I find it a little hard to believe, but I still respect his opinion. I vape only in my own bedroom, and not in the general living space in the house, or while riding in the car with him. Respect

My boss thinks vaping looks stupid anyways. He has been good about looking the other way when customers do it at his bar. I have worked with this man for a year. Nothing will change his mind. He loves his cigarettes, unfortunately.

So, if threads pop up every few days "stereotyping" sub ohm vapers, maybe there is an issue at hand. Like I said before, just because it SHOULD be legal. Doesn't mean it is. Unless there is a sign on the door that says "All Vapers Welcome" or "Smoking Permitted" we are going by the good graces of the business owners, which can be taken away at any time. image.jpg

Yes, there is an issue at hand...and that issue is that many vapers are very judgmental about others who choose to vape differently than they do.

Look, you and I are on the same side here when it comes to rude and obnoxious vapers in public, but it is not just those who sub-ohm. Many vapers can blow some pretty big clouds without sub-ohming....and they can be rude and inconsiderate about it in public.
