When I ordered my very first kit, I intended to order 2 autos. I made a mistake and ordered 1 auto and 1 manual. Of all the mistakes I have made with my vaping over 6 months, this was the best mistake I made. That first auto is the only one I have...it's been manuals ever since...I now own 10 cig-size manuals and 4 ego-size manuals. For me, even with the whole button thingy, manuals are just more natural.

I started with the cigarette-sized batteries. The Smokeless Image Volts. I had a couple of the manuals and a couple of the auto's.

Some people like the auto's for a more "cigarette-like" experience for the transition of smoking to vaping. Some others also like that they can hold the battery in their mouth like an analog to allow them to be hands-free to to other things while they vape.

I prefered the manual button. It allows you to adjust the vapor easier in certain situations. Sometimes it's necessary to do a "primer puff" (puff without power on) of a cartridge or carto if the juice is too thick or otherwise just not wicking well; can't do that with an auto. Some people like to pre-heat the juice before taking a draw; can't do that with an auto.

Most auto batteries are not "sealed", which means that liquid that leaks into the battery from the juice delivery device (it seems this happens to everyone) will short it out and kill the battery. Even auto batteries that make the claim that they are sealed (Smokeless Image Volt autos), still have an air hole present (it's what allows the chip in the battery know you are taking a drag) which leads to the business end of the battery and can allow liquid to get in there and kill the battery. Manual batteries are completely sealed off and do not have this problem.

I started with HALO G6 kit, I chose 1 auto & 1 manual. Gave the auto away pretty much. I after using both I feel manual performs better and gives you more control over the vape. Needless to say I've since upgraded (numerous times) but its manual or its not mine lol

Plus manual batts are closed off, auto's are not so u gotta be careful with that juice.

The person I gave my auto Battery to actually doesnt like manual. Thats why I like kits that let you choose, I say try em both and see wut YOU like cus really thats the most fun (and sumtimes annoyin) part of vaping, Finding Your setup.

Long after I started vaping, just for giggles, I got a Joyetech 510 kit with 1 manual & 1 auto. I preferred the auto because it has a slightly higher capacity battery in there. I seem to recall the manuals are 150 mAh and the autos are a whopping 180 mAh. Any advantage in a longer run time on those tiny batteries - I'll take it.

If it was my main device, I'd go with manual for the reasons others have stated. With a variety of mods lying around, however, my minis from Volt and V2 are used mainly when I want to just toss an ecig in my pocket for a short trip where I probably won't be vaping. The autos are perfect for this as there is no chance of pocket misfire. I also like autos for things like yard work and car repair when hands-free is a bonus.
