I was a dual user for the first six weeks vaping. My daily cigs went from 25 to 5 immediately. During that phase I tended to smoke a cigarette first thing in the morning. Partly I dual used on purpose to give myself time to get vaping better figured out. I focused on vaping instead of worrying about smoking. Don't stop vaping. Put another way, don't stop vaping. Then at six weeks I was out of cigarettes and decided not to immediately buy more and that turned into never buying more. By then cigarettes were not tasting so good. Stopping smoking completely took a little effort, may be 20% of what cold turkey would have been. I felt some craving for a cigarette for some months after that. These days cigarettes rarely come to mind. Some times I smell cigarette smoke of some coworkers on break. At those moments I recall that cigarettes don't taste very good and didn't make me feel very good and that's the end of that. I could smoke a cigarette today but I wouldn't go back to spending $3,000 a year and feeling bad all the time. (A year supply of eliquid mixed at home costs me $30. I'm spoiled.)

The Body becomes Trained.

Keep working on the Retraining and it will eventually stick. :)

Broke my 45yr habit in one shot............Was it simple, um no, but it was what I needed to do to be successful.
Funny thing, I remember the body getting over it much faster than the mind. o_O

Still, I am working on year 4, free from smoking :D

Will my ciggarette cravings change into vape cravings, especially in the mornings? When I first wake up I am finding it hard to choose the vape over the ciggarette. However when I vape during the day I have barely any cravings at all.

I still smoke to this day but I've gone from smoking two packs a day to 10 a day. You still have to want quit and you'll still get the urge from time to time. As long as you've cut you're cigarettes it's still a big win.

It might help you to have a little higher nicotine eliquid to help you past your morning craving, sometimes it only takes a change in flavor. Try keeping a spare tank full of higher nic and/or a flavor change ready to use during those times you feel cravings.

When I first started vaping I used a cig-alike style ecig so I had that cigarette tactile feeling, menthol eliquid and I vaped the same way I smoked meaning it was the first thing I grabbed in the mornings, with coffee or while driving, on the phone, work breaks... any time I would normally have triggers to smoke I vaped instead and was able to quit smoking day one. To this day, over 5 years later, I still keep a few cig-alikes with menthol eliquid around to get me past those occasional cravings to smoke and it works every time.

Waking up to sub zero weather and not having to immediately dress and bundle up to step outside for a smoke does wonders to eliminate that "first thing in the morning smoke" desire. A vape with that first cup of coffee while still in the PJ's and looking out at the blowing snow is quite relaxing. Of course, it helps being retired!

It's more a mental phenomenon than anything. For a while, I assumed that only a cigarette would compliment a morning coffee, glass of wine, big dinner, etc. It's because I had become accustomed to it over many years. After I started replacing the cigarette with a vape, it felt a little strange at first, but soon it replaced the desires for a cigarette altogether. Now I don't crave the analogs at all, even when I'm around others who smoke them. In fact, quite the opposite, I tend to be repulsed by the smell. Developing an aversion to them was the best thing to happen to me.

The most difficult time to choose the vape over the cig was when I got home from work.
My habbit was to sit down, start my PC and light a cig.
So I vaped instead. Still, something was missing. I couldnt pinpoint it. I had the hand to mouth, the inhale and exhale, the "cloud" satisfaction, even the nicotine, everything that made me smoke in the first place.
I cant say what it was that was missing. I just fought through the cravings. Took me a week or two.
So yeah, it will become easier. The cravings will go away.
The Ecig isnt a magic spell that makes you quit instantly. But it sure helps.
You fight through the cravings. They will go away. At least im my experiance.

When I started vaping I used 12mg juice on a low power single coil setup at around 9-10watts.

It got me off the cigs the day I started vaping, but the first couple of weeks took some discipline as I did have cigs cravings.

They mainly went away, but would come back a couple of times a week, particularly if I had a drink.

I then moved over to dual coil, sub-ohm setups, at between 22-32 watts, sticking with the same 12mg juice.

More instant nicotine, more satisfying vape, and I've not looked back.

I only get vape cravings and never want a cig. I've had a couple since when travelling to countries where vaping is banned, like Singapore. I can't stand cigs now.

For me it was getting the right vape, that was truly satisfying and got me totally off cigs.

Good luck on your journey :)

You need to disassociate from the pleasure you get from cigarettes. I asked my wife to help me figure out a way to quit. She hates smoking, absolutely hates it (and she doesn't like me very much either) so every time she smelled smoke on me, she'd wait and then push me down the stairs. At home it was painful but it was the 30 marble steps down the front of the Field Museum that nearly killed me. Once I learned to walk again, I never had another cigarette.

So long as you do NOT pick up another cigarette, you will forget what they taste like all together, along with what they feel like to smoke... & you will eventually WANT the PV, not the cigarette, in the AM. trust me, it's coming... once you find an "all day vape" that you truly fall in love with, you'll be craving that flavor each morning. (for me, it is snickerdoodle cookie, or cinnamon bun... Or vanilla-caramel-tobacco) so once you find that ADV, you'll be cravin' that. I must say, the cig cravings DO go away, but from my experience, you really need to stay away from them for a while before you stop craving them all together. I have been craving a real cigarette lately, but it's because there's been a lot of these threads popping-up here on ecf lately, lmao. I need to stop seeing "I'm craving cigarettes" threads, and I'll be okay! lol.

Been cig free for 15 days now. Once I got my vape kit I left my last pack at the vape shop. Now it has only been 15 days for me and yes in the morning I want a cig so badly with my coffee but I vape ok chain vape and it goes away.

I have found for me this works, first thing in the AM I got a tobacco flav 18mg tank and I vape on that, nice nic hit and I am ok. Then I change tanks and for the rest of the day I am good with 12 mg of yummy flavoured juice :)

Mornings were the worst for me too. Followed closely by driving. As others have said it will pass if you can keep at it. Used to vape a much higher nic content till I got to work every morning. After a couple of months found that the higher nic wasn't needed anymore.

Everybody that replaces smoking with vaping seems to get to it in a slightly different way. Best of luck to you.
