Cigs going up another $1 a pack tomorrow.

MA upped the state tax on our cigs last summer and in one day my pack of smokes went up exactly $1.50. That was bad enough, yet the part that really burned my .... was that the tax went into effect at 0001 hours that day, but the governor didn't sign it into law until 1710 later in that day. I actually called the state Attorney Generals office to ask them about it and of course they told me it was "retroactive" and 100% legal. I may not agree with it, but if you think about it, can you imagine the amount of money the state made on increased tax that day before it actually became law? Perhaps millions?

And when it comes to federal taxes... well let's just say that we are all in for some rough times ahead.

But that would suggest we want our cigs without tax, and we don't want them at all.
True but that's not what my comment was about...rather I like the product or not our representatives are not people we've deemed elite enough to decide what we should/shouldn't have and how. They are supposed to serve the public's will.
