Clapton conundrum

Hi. Just started building my own claptons - I could not find any online which would fit inside my little RTA (Orchid v4/nano). I used 32 gauge Kanthal around 28ga - then 6 wraps of that with a 2.5mm dia reading 0.6 ohms (2 coils) vaping at 3.6 volts/23w.

I was going to experiment with Nichrome wire and thought if I wound that around the 28ga Kantal.. the Nichrome outer wire would heat up really quickly (being Nichrome/longer/thinner) but I read a thread here that said Claptons should heat up from the inside out. Would I be better using Nichrome for the inner wire? Is there any danger in that (like not seeing the nichrome core is spent)? Does anyone have any suggestions where to buy online or how to make the best little clapton coils with a short ramp up?

Heating from the inside to the outside refers to coils heating from the middle of the coil to the edges. However, the outer wrap of Claptons is heated up by the core wire, so your misunderstanding is actually correct. I'd use kanthal for the inner wire (well, stainless steel really, as that's what I use pretty exclusively).
