Ha-ha Rixsta, good to see you too, I don't even know where my Starre is anymore, and I'm still stuck on the Crown (nothing tops it), that and this Griffin keep me happy. Where do you buy your alien claptons? They look pretty expensive, I just searched and saw two for $29.95, that's crazy!

Here's a stupid question:
When using a .45 ohm dual coil claptons on my Griffin, if I run it at a "low" wattage, say 31.1, it takes forever to ramp up, but if I go just a little higher, it keeps on sizzlin' after I stop hitting the power button. Thoughts?

That's physics for you. When you have that much metal in a coil it takes a long time to heat up and an equally long time to cool down. When I've used those coils (I generally don't anymore) I got into the habit of running the mod at a slightly lower wattage, taking a primer puff or two while waiting for it to heat up, and then releasing the fire button around a second or two before I stop drawing from the atomizer.

Personally I've found that the metal the coils are made from has a greater influence on taste than the type of coil used.

Let go of your fire button a second or 2 before you stop puffing! See what you're running into is the opposite of the "Ramp up" time at low wattage! At higher watts the "Ramp down time" or cool down is going to be greater because again of coil mass! For me this has never been a bad thing! Bottom line to me of this whole discussion is more surface area = more vapor & flavor! And as with anything vaping it's your choice how to get there!:headbang:

They were the good old days mukka, well until the Starre Pro, then my reviews stopped lol

I'm in the UK, they cost me 6.50 (sterling) I think..Not sure how much shipping would be or if he even ships over the pond..

Parallel coils offer the best performance followed by standard coils. All the fancy ones are placebo effect, IMO. I had high hopes the first time I wrapped some dual fused claptons. Quite the letdown, IMO.

Maybe yes

But I go for alien or Claptons over standard builds all day long due to vaping style

I like to vape around 100w and those wires give me flavour

Agreed on parallel love those too

I learned to build on mechanicals back before high powered regulated devices.
It taught me to understand the nuances of coil building and wicking to get optimal performance.
There is no need for overpowering coils unless you have a huge mass of metal to heat.

Power doesn't equal performance.

Do you even Cloudz bro?
Didn't really used too but with all these new "Super tanks" I've bought I haven't vaped under like 50w in a while! Heck the octo-claptons in my TFV4 won't hardly fire at less than 60w! But with all that surface area & mass OMG it's wonderful for me! That thing produces so much that it gagged a buddy of mine who vapes 12mg in a velocity on a mech & my juice is only 6mg! From the people that have tried it I've heard things like "Freight train & Mack truck" to describe the way it hits and right after that they comment on how smoothe it is! I can see you sitting there just seething about this but you really oughtta try it! Things have come a long way in just the year+ I've been vaping!:headbang:

P.S. Look at @pwheeler he's an avid squonker who bought a Mutation mt & really hasn't looked back!

More mass more heat retention my dear Watson..
