Thanks for trying to make this forum better.

The headings lose a lot of real estate by fully naming the country.
I think we can abbreviate with US, CN, SP, or something close to that, and leave more room for the poster's description.

vBulleting has a search character limitation of more than 3 characters and if we use initials we may not be able to search by country as we plan to do. This isn't settled yet but for now it must remain as you see it now.

This may not be the correct place to post this. If it is wrong, please accept my apologies.

I just tried to leave feedback for a member from whom I purchased some goods. When I clicked on "Submit feedback for" I got an error screen stating that I have insufficient rights to leave feedback.

Maybe I just am not able to figure out how to do this yet, but I'd like to be able to sort by new items listed instead of which ones have the newest replies.

Example - someone who listed something for sale 2 weeks ago, if there's a reply to that post right now, it's bumped to the top. But I already read that ad 2 weeks ago and don't want to see it again.

Is there a "sort by date of first post"? Or could there be for the for sale items?

*edit* I just figured it out! Go to the bottom of the page, select Thread Starter, choose by when the thread was started, click Descending, then hit Search. Yippee, it's doable. So yeah, doesn't need fixing, but I'll leave this post in case anyone else is trying to figure out how to do it.

Is there any way to get for sale items on your profile page? like a link for them? just a thought of mine.
I was thinking along the lines of a ebay type feel. ether way ecf rocks!

Are you talking about a link for others to click that list what you have for sale?

There is no such option at the bottom of my listing pages. In fact, that thread-display options are missing from quite a few areas throughout ECF. Yet in other areas, rearranging thread display is there.

Any other suggestions for getting current threads to show first, when thread-display options are missing?

Thanks.

ANSWERED MY OWN QUESTION -- UPDATE: Well, seems to be "Just figured it out" lately.

Using any link under "Whats New?" to get to one of those four areas eliminates any thread control options at the bottom of the page, which means new replies will always rule the order of the threads displayed.

I just went to the main ECF Forum page, then scrolled all the way down, to get to the classifieds, clicked to get into the classifieds, and VOILA! there were the options to rearrange thread display at the bottom of the page

Another learning moment.

Yeah, for that sort feature mentioned you have to be in the actual sub-forum. Good find. Thanks for posting back.

j0ker, I know you're busy and all, but I think the "Classifieds Rules & Guidelines" thread could use a little housecleaning ;-) Things have changed since those posts were made and a few items no longer apply. The whole section about thread titles as well as mention of posting feedback in the feedback threads are irrelevant to the current procedures. There are also some little nitpicky things throughout, but those two are probably the most glaring outdated segments. Just thought I'd mention it, though I'm sure it's on your massive to-do list already

there should be a way to type in a search box what you want and search just the classified section... sorry if there is already a way to do this. Also saved searches would be great (like 2-3 per person)

There is ;-) Click on "advanced search" in the menu bar at the top of the forum page (right under the search box) and then click on the "single content type" tab. Under the "additional options" section you can choose what forum to search in

Yeah, I'll get around to it eventually.

There's also a "Search Forum" at the top of the sub-forum and this will only search that particular sub-forum.

Overall, I like the new classy's a lot. Two things I'd like to comment on.

First, have you gotten much feedback on having the wants separate from the sale/trade? I like browsing all, which I know you can do through links. I'm just curious if there are folks the like the split. (It doesn't hurt to have it) just wondering it is needed.

More important I'm wondering what the reasoning is for only allowing verified members to leave feedback. If one takes the "risk" to sell to someone that is not verified, I think they should be able to get good feedback.

Especially since we're "starting over" with feedback. :)

First, we aren't sure yet if we are starting over with feedback. This has yet to be determined.

The wanted and sell/trade separation was done because a lot of people complained that when they were looking to buy something, they would see the title stating the item, then see WTB. It's a little disappointing when you realize it's someone wanting instead of selling. Also, it's just logical to place the selling/trading in one location and the wants in another.

Soon, the Classified section will only be available to Verified members, meaning no one but Verified will be using it, so making feedback only available to Verified Members was the right way to configure it. If you aren't Verified, feedback won't really matter once the Classified section goes exclusive to the Verified member. When this will be? That's undecided, I would like more options for becoming Verified but unfortunately there just aren't many ways to do this. So we are giving members ample time to use the current methods and hoping maybe we can come up with a new method or two in the meantime.

Are you talking about a link for others to click that list what you have for sale?

Yeah sorta works both ways, When I start a for sale have it under some kind of Anthony's for sale and then my links for the items under it.

Imo it would be easier for me to keep track of them. and to see what others have for sale without searching for it.

Just an opinion I like the say its set up already though good work!
