So alot of people ask about carto-cleaning... I couldn't find something suitable so I tried this.

It seems to work well, but it's open for debate.

I have heard someone say that they simply put a bunch of carts in a pot of boiling water for a few minutes. Of course, they removed the end cap and the middle O-ring first. I was concerned that the paper covering the cart may start to disintegrate.

Has anyone else tried this method? Results?

Very slick! A gal in the Vapor4Life forum mentioned that she uses a similar method with good results, using a piece of clear plastic tubing instead of the syringe you have. Gonna have to give that a try. Thanks much!

I boiled a bunch of carto's last night from PS without any problems. It didnt seem to really give it a clean through and through though. Perhaps I just had to much residue in them, otherwise mechanically the things were fine (once removing mouth piece and middle ring)

Maybe I can use my new contraption I built last night to spin them in a bucket of water and then spin out the excess. I originally built it to spin the extra juice to the bottom of the cart using the condom fill method.

yes, I noticed that when I was steaming them on the coffee machine. It wasn't good.

how is the drying with it doing? do you still have to wait?

Not much different to blowing in them really, and yes I still wait.

Anyone thrown them in a clothes dryer yet? that would 'fluff' them up a bit.

I put mine in boiling water and left them for an hour then reheated again with cartos still in pot and stirred them ever so often, after a couple of hours maybe even 3 I seen all the color and smell of the juice in the water. Pulled em out, blew them out and let them dry for a couple of days. worked good. I don't know what kind of glue they use on them cartos but after all that the stickers were held fast. I tried to remove one I had to scrape it off.

I'm actually boiling 5 cartomizers I've used on and off for about two months right now.

Boiling will help to kill any mold and/or bacteria that may have made a home in your cartomizer. I also soak them in distilled water for about 24 hours before boiling so I don't coat my kettle in e-liquid residue.

Also, it seems just leaving a cartomizer to sit and air dry does not completely work. No matter how long I leave a cartomizer out to dry I end up having to shake out the remaining water. But, cleaning after cleaning they work like champs. I admit I still kind of prefer a 901 but IMO the KR808 just might be the most dependable type of atomizer on the market at the moment. Hmmm...I take that back...I forgot about the atomizer of Carlos' Juicebox!

I made sure to get the right sized fuse holders and used the ones with the "stops" on the ends. The carts can't fly off.

Okay, I tried this syringe cleaning method yesterday and ruined 5 of the 10 carts I tried it on. I didn't use much pressure (in fact less than shown in the video) but 5 of the carts were completely stopped up after that. I couldn't draw any air either direction from the cart, and couldn't see through the hole. I let them dry completely, but it made no difference. I also tried poking a needle through the hole but that didn't help either. What am I doing wrong? Any suggestions? I'm now a little gunshy because I don't want to ruin another 10 bucks worth of carts.....

pop the ends and the o'rings out of them and see if you can straighten them out that way. the insides arn't made all that sturdy so it's not too tough to get them all lined out. just use your needle to bend the insides the way it needs to go. hope this helps

I'll give that a shot, thanks. I tried it yesterday, but I think I need a stronger tool than a needle. I'll have to find something I can get down in there and move it around!

ooops sorry man, It seemed to work well with mine.... but I did get one where the stuffing buckled. (the water was very hot)

I straitened the stuffing up in cold water using a toothpick and it is all good now.

Were you using hot/boiling water? I might put a warning in there.

In the vid I was only using warmish water, the filler seems to hold up better.

Now I go really gentle with the hot and flush with cool water.

edit: btw how did the other 5 carts turn out?

Ah, that must be it then. The water was pretty much as hot as I could get it. I really didn't think about the possibility that the heat could weaken and buckle the guts... I tried straightening out the bad ones with a paperclip, and had success with 2 of them, but the other three are no bueno. It's all good though, they had already been filled 6 or 7 times, so they lived a pretty good life! Besides, this is all pretty experimental for all of us right now, so there's bound to be some casualties!

The other 5 carts worked great! After drying them thoroughly, the smell from the previous juices were gone and they looked brand new. I filled them up (using the 'spinning' method to distribute the juice) and got 30 drops in. I'm vaping one right now, and it's rockin and rollin!

By the way, I saw this update last night and had another batch that needed cleaning, so I gave it another shot. This time, I used cold (cheap) vodka for the initial flush (twice through the syringe), then very carefully flushed twice through pretty warm water (going pretty slow). Blew them out and set them on a towel to dry overnight. This morning, 10 out of 10 looked white, clean, and fluffy inside, and no issues with buckling! I'm a happy camper now, the level of clean vs the level of effort here is pretty sweet!

Brilliant! I had a couple of cartomizers that I couldn't get clean. I had been planning on tossing them but hadn't gotten around to it. Then I saw this...

I put some vodka in a small cup, put the little ring on a 35 ml syringe (yeah... pretty big!), put the end in the vodka and pumped away. The big syringe allowed me to only pump a couple of times and TAH DAH!!!! Both of them were completely clean! I'm amazed and impressed!

(I use an Intex Double Quick Mini Air Pump to dry them. It fits in the opening of a cartomizer perfectly and it works beautifully! I picked up this tip elsewhere on the forum.)

First, thanks for the "CCFM" -Carto Cap Filler Method. Now, couldn't you use the same method for carto cleaning? Use vodka or Everclear instead of e juice, overfill the carto slightly and then set aside with the cap left on, while filling others. Then just come back around after about 15-20 minutes and blow them out. You would have total saturation and I would think the alcohol would cut any syrupy grime. Just a thought. Will try this soon and let you know.

If this has already been posted elsewhere, I apologize. Still a bit of a noob, here.
