Do it - you will appreciate it. One of the first things that drove me nutz after I quit was the lingering odor in my coat, my man purse, my hats... It's not like you can get away from the odor if you are wearing it. I couldn't wait to run that stuff through a good washing. Other things could wait on getting cleaned up, but those used every day items had to get cleaned ASAP.

We have over 100 shirts that are hanging in the closet that have a slight stench to them. The sheer number we have is why I'm not washing them. I'll just have to deal with the linger. :(

1 week in. :toast:. spent time cleaning all my ashtrays. i usually wait a year and take a chisel to them to scrape off the top inch of nasty. keeping them for my smoking friends. will never make a smoker feel like a second class citizen. they can smoke in front of me, in my truck, and in my house. working up the courage to clean the nicotine stained walls. next project i guess.

Glad to see your thoughts on smoking friends. It DISGUSTS me the attitude toward smokers that many vapers take. It's that exact nasty attitude that we all used to be treated with and that exact attitude that's going to make people not want to vape - and instead just smoke to spite us.

Plan on starting a hardcore cleaning of my car tomorrow afternoon, going fishing in the morning. Vacuumed it 2 days ago and it's nice seeing no ash on my seats/carpet anymore. Just got to begin the good ol' wiping everything down good then admiring the hard-work. Cleaned the windshield the other day and that was a night and day difference. I could see good at night again :p

DietSalem agree with you on the attitude. If I had someone come up and tell me crap about how bad smoking was, the first thing I did when they left was light another and take a huge drag. One reason I just smoked in my car on breaks. Think I will let the smokers at work know about e-cigs and that they do work and that there's better options than those at gas stations.

To each their own but I dont agree with you at all I smoked for 20 years and while I dont talk down to those that smoke I will say this... It is a nasty habit I did it and yes it stinks even more so to me now that I have not had one since the first week of January (2013). Do I talk down to my friends that smoke? No I do not but I don't hang with them like I used to, it is well just nasty smelling I for one can't belive I did it for 20 damn years and that my wife even married me due to me being a smoker at the time (Dec 2005) she must really love me LOL

Meh, I don't have a problem with people that want to smoke, I even go and join them while they go have a stinky just so I can talk to them and socialize. They say stuff like "Oh I feel bad smoking in front of you" and whatnot, but I just tell them it doesn't bother me and don't worry about it. Some of them have even converted to vaping and while having the occasional stinky here and there they get the it's not the ones you smoke it's the ones you don't philosophy.

One girl used to smoke a pack a day and is now four packs into her carton and she bought it 2 weeks ago this coming Sunday. I can tell she feels a bit weird smoking a stinky in front of me, but I tell her it doesn't matter to me and she has come along way so if she feels like she needs one she should have one, and think of all the money she has saved already. Even at this rate she is doing great.

I will never be like the reformed cold turkey smokers that used to lecture me.

That is an attitude I noticed on a different site and saw mention of this one so I left it and came here :D Much better decision, to me it doesn't matter how you quit smoking just as long as you quit. Cold Turkey doesn't make someone better than another who chooses to step down their nic intake to 0. Atleast I can enjoy my quit much more than they did. Tried cold turkey a few times and could never get past a day and a half before giving in.

I cleaned my ashtrays 2 days after I took up vaping, had to turn away from the ashes being shaken in the trash lol, it already felt like an evil smell.
But I had that one wooden ashtray, on a long foot, african type decorating thingy, and I had decided to keep it in my bedroom.......huh yeah but it's wood. had to clean it 3 times , then I felt safe enough to put some things in it (keys and whatnot), but one night i was hunting for a foul smell in my bedroom and there it was. the ashtray still smells, with every day my nose gets better, every day I smell it more lol. Wooden ashtrays are powerful enemies!

The smell was one of the reasons I could not quit. DH smokes too and I could not bare the smell once he came back in the house once I quit. So I just kept puffing away too because we would end up in some really heated arguements. It's so stupid sounding but its the truth. Never smoked in the house but tomorrow my car will be getting one heck of a cleaning. No more ashes and cleaning the film of the glasses! You have come a long way man....the walls will come in time!
