Hi guys,

When I first saw this awesome Nickel plated El Diablo Philippines Satan Box mod - I was like: Ohhhhh myyy gawwdd! I needed this! My wife decided to put the money on the table and gifted me this mod.

So I had to decide: Nickel polished plating or black coated aluminium. I took the Nickel plated box.

Everytime I take this little beauty for a vape I immediately regret it because of the fingerprints and oily residues on the mod. I tend to be a lazy guy in front of the TV and so the mod won't get cleaned instantly after usage. This leads to so called "burnt-in" fingerprints and the nickel becomes tarnished and dull where touched. Cleaning it alone with a microfibre cloth doesn't do the trick so I need your input.

I bought a can of Nvr Dull and tried to polish it with mixed results. I got the oily fingerprints off of the mod and cleaned it afterwards with a microfibre cloth. It left some tiny tiny scratches back but not that big of a deal. What makes me unconfident is that I read a lot about abrasive polishing paste around the interweb and I don't want to get that nickel plating removed too soon. And i can't/won't treat it every week with Nvr-dull to remove those burnt-in fingerprints.

So any suggestions beside wearing gloves? :)

All metal polishes work by using abrasives or chemicals to remove oxidation and also a layer of metal.

Nickle plating will eventually wear through if you polish.

I'd treat it like a handgun.
Clean it with a light polish (Flitz for example) and wipe it with hard carnuba wax to protect it against fingerprints and staining.

Another thing I learned. Thank you.

Yeah, thats what I read on other forums.

Thx. I will give carnuba wax a try.
Overall, looks like I have to treat myself and buy the aluminium anodized version. :/
Have you ever heard of Cape Cod cloths? One of our online store has this in stock recently and I think I will try those cloths as well.

The MASTER of polished mods, DSpin, turned me on to some stuff called Sharkshide. It's a blue paste. It won't take any appreciable amount of your nickle off, and shines like the sun. Beside the polish, they also make a protector.

I used both while restoring a 1993 Baja boat that I've had since new, this past winter. It IS amazing. On a BRASS mod? You'll never see anything like it. The 23 year old aluminum window frames and stainless fittings on the boat look new, and they'd never been polished.

Last thing, I did try the Cape Cod cloths. Pffft. They have NOTHING on this stuff. Sharkshide DOES take some elbow grease though. It is SUPER fine. Which is why it doesn't remove your finish. It would take forever.
