I've had an Ego-T battery and a clearomiser which I think is the Vision v3 for just over a week.

Anyway, yesterday I was getting a burning plastic kind of taste when vaping and 2 cleanouts didn't solve it. I thought I'd pull the wick out to check and low and behold there was the problem, the wick had burned in the middle and was jet black. Trying to remove the burnt bits made the wick fall apart and I've had to nip to the petrol station to get 20 cigs as my local e-cig shop isn't open until tomorrow. Damn.

As there something I could have been doing wrong? I never let the tank go dry but I did always vape until the battery flashed and timed out. And it did get hot when vaping.

Any suggestions let me know as I'll be picked up a couple of clearomisers in the morning and don't want the same to happen again so quickly

When I used the V3's I would wash and dry burn the heads..depending on the darkness of the juice anywhere from every 3 to 7 days- darker juices (tobaccos) gunk up the element quicker and clog the wick. You can also buy cheap replacement heads for the V3. The wicks are silica so they shouldn't be burning. I now use the Mini Vivi Nova.
Washing the head cleans the wick and dry burning cleans the element. Hot water is good but PGA is better.

PLEASE EXCUSE MY CAPS DUE TO DIMINISHED AND DOUBLE VISION. IF I WANT TO USE A CLEARO I STICK TO THE KANGER T2. THE REPLACEMENT WICKS ARE ONLY A $1 EACH AT SUREVAPES WITH FREE SHIPPING SO I CAN AFFORD TO THROW THEM AWAY WHEN THEY CAN'T BE SALVAGED ANYMORE.
I ALSO ALWAYS KEEP A STEADY STASH OF CARTOMIZERS FILLED INCASE I GET FRUSTRATED WITH WHATEVER I AM CURRENTLY TRENDING. THEY ARE ALWAYS A DEPENDABLE BACK-UP AND WAY BETTER THAN A CIGARETTE! WITH OR WITHOUT A TANK I CAN BE HAPPILY VAPING AWAY IN FLASH.
:vapor: ANOTHER HANDY DANDY LITTLE LIFESAVER ARE THE PASSTHROUGHS I BOUGHT AT REVOLVER FOR ONLY $2.50 FOR THE 510 AND $3 FOR AN EGO CONNECTION. AT THAT PRICE I WILL NEVER BE WITHOUT A VAPE! I BOUGHT 10 TOTAL AND LEAVE THEM IN MY CAR, PURSE, JACKET POCKET ETC... IN FACT I AM USING ONE RIGHT NOW JUST TO SAVE BATTERY WHILE I AM ON THE LAPTOP. I LOVE THESE THINGS!

My prob with clearomizers wasn't burnout it was leakage... I was a little overzealous and not careful enough, I think, in my cleaning endeavors and flooded them... Anyway I wash mine with Vodka on each change/refill -- fill halfway, shake well, repeat a couple times, recap and have at it -- so far no burn-outs here...

poart of your problem may be related to using an unadjustable battery and the wrong resistance clearo, if your resistance is too low you will end up burning the wick.

other then that a quick dry burn to clean off the gunk helps.
for something better try a Kanger t2 or minivivi nova.
using somewhere around 2ohm or better heads.

I never got more than a week out of my clearomisers. I have decided that they are designed this way, keeps us coming back for more. I am switching to rebuildable tank system, hoping to aleviate this problem.

With proper care (cleaning & dry burning) they will last MUCH longer. I have been using the same vivi nova head since October.

its down to your cleaning ive had two clearomiser v3 for 3 weeks now i got 5 spair atomisers but still on the first 2 i use both at same time two bats both ego c pasthrough upgrades the varable type and not had a prob they do need cleaning every other day but im a heavy vaper
and no leaks they are great
i just take them apart soke in hot water not boiling or it will losen the crome rings ops 5 had to glue it back on)
then pat the wick dry blow out the center stand part not sure of its oficail term then atach to bat and burn im using 2.4 and 2.8 ohms and ive tryed my best to burn out a coil just to ce if i can i hold the butten untill the 10 second light flashes still wont pop anyway i dont advise you to do this just a normal burn untill all the smoke has gone it will get warm ther are loads of videos on youtube about dry burn take a look oh and carry a couple spair heads ;)

Just switch to cartotanks. Trust me.
i have a dct i think its called on its way freebie with lavatube do you still get the same old carto probs with a carto tank ?
surly if a normal say 2.4 ohm cart lasted 10mm of liquid even in a tank its not going to perform any beter ?
i killed 5 cartos in a week very depresed (was in france had to drive 50k to buy over priced carto ) nearly went and got a pack of smokes but then found out how to dry burn them and they still going strong 5 weeks later poped 1 of them but hey ho

Your eGo is a 510 threaded PV, the most popular of all connections. You can use cartos, carto+ tank, clearos, atomizers...as long as they're 510. As far as your eGo it fires at 3.4 volts so a 1.8 ohms delivery device will give a warm vape- 2.0- 2.4 ohms gives a cooler vape. One last point- some vendors are still selling the short wick clearos which have to be occasionally tilted to keep the wicks saturated. I am of the belief that your clearo needed to be dry burned- dry burning removes the built up gunk on the coil/ heating element that occurs from the flavoring in the juice. Here's a pic that shows both the short and long wick

Is there a tank that fits the Ego-T, and do I just need a tank on its own or any other bits?

I haven't used dct before. I'm using a carto tank with a 35mm normal resistance boge 510 cartos that are double punched. I haven't had any problems. I've gone through 3 refills with the same carto and tank and no problems. I'm using 100%vg too. Just getting a consistent vape. If I was using the vivi nova I'd be getting burnt hits (unless I spin and twirled the wick), leaking from the bottom, weird resistance problems etc.

Vape Escape is a highly regarded vendor here at ECF. Although I've never dealt with Jason I've heard countless stories from his legion of satisfied customers. Also really like the fact he asked vapers what they would want in a starter lit and actually sells such a kit.

Gutted for you mate. My first Clearo lasted six weeks but didn't get hot or taste of plastic. Just clogged up.

As said above..... back up. I thought I was the only person in the world to worry about running out of anything until I came here.

Maybe just a bad clearo. You need more of everything to determine the problem.
