I've been pretty happy with the Phoenixes I got today. I've been using the 510 Phoenix on other devices, so I don't think I'm going to run into anything new here. This is the way to go for 808 batts. I've tried fluxos. They take longer to break in and more fidgeting. They're not the same width as 808 batts either, but that's an aesthetic complaint.
As for Phoenix, I mostly vape Tribeca. Anything thicker is problemaltic. Stuff like Gorilla juice just doesn't wick well. You kind of have to take "dry puffs" to make sure you're getting it to the coil. Wait for some bubbles to pop up, and then get 2 or 3 actual puffs. Rinse Repeat.
edit: Oh, I was gonna say.. Since I don't use the drip tip on these, I get a slightly warmer vape than usual Phoenix BC vaping. I'm using the default carto like mouthpiece on them. If you keep the puff going, you get a little warmth.

Good stuff Kdude. Lots of variations in how people respond to fluxos and phoenix. For example, I'm not the norm, in that fluxos are a 1 2 3 operation for me to get them working, phoenix is somewhat of a nightmare lol
As you said the juice viscosity is a big deal here. If you want your phoenix to wick faster and work with high VG, its very possible, but it will require tweaking

KDude, did you get the top or bottom coil ones? I am enjoying my 808 Phoenix TCs, but still on the first one, all the others could be a dud for all I know.

I've only used the BCs. I might get some top coils next month. I'm not really a fan of the top coil design so far though (with other clearos).
I guess I'll add one snag I experienced with my halo g6 batts (only kr8s i have atm). On the connection end of the Phoenix, it doesn't seem like the grooves are lined up correctly to allow airflow (either with manuals or autos). Taking a vape would make the light on the cigs come on, but for some reason, the coil wasn't heating. I then took a screwdriver and made small clockwise adjustments to the bottom ring seated underneath the carto. I've never done this before on a KR8 carto, but they work fine now.
From what I can tell, auto batteries aren't a good choice either. I left one with a carto on overnight, and woke up to find some leakage. I wonder if auto KR8s are "inhaling" of their own accord.. I guess I had my AC on pretty high all night. That might've done it. Other than that, it's fine. If I were to use autos, I'll make sure to screw them off before I set it down for long periods.

with my clearomizers especially, I never leave them for a while on top of any battery, even the Juggernaut (e.g. Provari). I just don't trust them! The phoenix army has already attempted multiple assassinations of my gear lol
lol an army eh. I have a lot of 510s, but I haven't opened many yet. I need more 808s too. Perhaps I'll name them all.
oh no! That makes it harder to operate on them and rip them apart for spare parts. All my hardware is called "Frank".
One other thing, I've found that my G6 minis (65mm 200ohm?) died out right at the point my juice reached the edge of the metal post on the Phoenix. Both push out good flavor and vapor right to the end.
Kind of pointless to mention, but I guess it's convenient for planning charges and refills. 2 65mm batts and 2 cartos would give a decent amount of vaping time (Although I think Volts last a little longer).

Something he didn't cover....."certain" vendors defended to the death the reason for the short wicks. Repeated it over and over on their threads and then turned back around to claim the longer wicks were a vast improvement once it was time to sell it.

Yeah, I'll agree with the gist. I'm a newcomer myself, and it's overwhelming. I might not even be typical, because I'm already a tinkerer/technically inclined or whatnot, but the state of how products are released is annoying and confusing nevertheless. If I was a typical newcomer, I'd easily give up.
That said,. I think this PBusardo dude is pretty cool, but I haven't found some of his reviews helpful.. I think he relies on thicker juices than I usually vape (from what I can tell, he likes Boba's a lot...although I can't tell if that's what he's doing in the Stardust). There is a fault with these systems not wicking it, but at the same time, I don't think it's fair to judge them through that lens either.
I don't know... I want to criticize manufacturers too. The Janty Neo comes to mind currently. That looks like an attractive tank system, but it's designed explicitly with only 100 PG in mind. I don't have words to explain how lame that is (edit: although, to their credit, they tested it and warn you of that, before buying).

The only thing Janty ever came out with worth buying was the kuwako. And it's technically just a hunk of plastic. Visit their thread sometime. It's funny how kiss-assy it is over there.
I don't see them as a manufacturer so much as a designer. They invented the 510 and the ego. I don't even have one, but I know it's pretty much the standard device. What sucks is that many think Joyetech made those things. Apparently Janty just outsourced. So that said, if they can do that, I think they can come up with more.
At least they don't bombard the market. When they come up with joye stuff, it hits the market and there's time before they slap something else at you. First the booster....then the mod and the add on to toggle between unregulated and regulated and now the twist. If they were like some, the vv mod would have hit the market 2 weeks after the twist. They have everything in place so you know they could have it on the market now if they wanted to.At least they do take the time to test things and let the market settle a little so I'm not a total hater.
