Mine definitely tastes burnt. I filled it up and the first 3 hits or so were tasty and now it just tastes like burnt plastic. Any thoughts on how to fix this? I bought a 5 pack of them and I'd like to be able to use them. It's filled up so it's not a dry burn. I am really new to all of this so maybe there is something I am missing?

On the CE2's before using, even prior to using new ones (or if you get the burnt taste) I do the following:

1) Remove and rinse all plugs (Cap, inner ring, and ceramic cup ring - this one is a bit of a PITA to get out)
2) Rinse the cartomizer in hot water
3) Drop the cartomizer in boiling water (microwave water to boil), then drop catomizer in for 5 minutes agitating occasionally
4) Rinse again
5) Shake excess water out, blow out excess water from both ends
6) Dry burn until you see all wraps of the coil burn red (typically three wraps), this may take a couple minutes
7) Fill w/ 1.5 mil on new/clean and 1 ml on refill (note: I do not replace the ring around the cermaic cup, I feel it reduces wicking on my higher VG juices).
8) Replace inner ring and cap (not cup ring)
9) vape

This method works great on all CE's I own from COV or Volcano (metal or clear). Dark and higher VG juices will require more often cleaning however I usually clean after 4 reloads and NEVER have a burnt taste with the above steps.

On my next refill day, I plan to try to modify and use the ceramic cup ring. I plan to modify the cutouts for the wick to make them larger to see if I can use them without impairing the wicking although not using them make for easier refills.

Hope this helps.

to rfm's post I would add that many times I have ended up destroying that last ring trying to remove it using tweezers.

I would not panic if it happens which occasionally it will. One can start saving rings as time passes so you have spares.

Also I try to make sure my CE's and mod stay upright as much as possible. Sometimes when carried in the pocket it gets tossed about and when I got to vape I get a "gurgling" type sound.
When that happens I either ignore it and just vape till it goes away, usually 1-2 drags. If it persists I remove from battery and blow it out from filling end into a tissue and its ready to go.

I don't usually keep/use any of the rings but have in the past used just one ring. I insert it into the tube body then use the DT to press it down so it is not too close to the coil and only as deep as the end of the DT.

Wanted to add this pic for reference.

See the wicks, they look pretty clean to me.I use used this E2 alot. this came clean like this just from hot water rinse and dry burn. So it well worth it to clean your's to prolong its life and performance.

(Sorry for the blurry, used phone's camera being in a hurry).

Just got my clear ones from Clouds of Vapor and I have been puffing away trying to get it to taste burnt but as of yet all I have is a nic buzz...I dont know why or how but these taste alot better than that burnt crap I was getting out of the reg? E2's

hey kel... supposedly, the clear ones have been altered just enough to change the angle of the wick. Something about it being curved, instead of at a right angle, and the theory is that it travels up the wick easier/quicker.

Why doesn't this darn CE2 fit my Inferno battery?!

(((besties)))) All of the Volcano products are slightly bigger than regular joye and generic. EX: if you put a volcano cart in a 510 atty, you might have a really tight fit... same, if you put a joye cart in a volcano atty, it may fall out easily. So perhaps the Inferno is an even greater size ratio. If the ce2 is made for the 510.. then you are going up to the size equivalant of the ego, right? So it could have even more difference.
Just a thought...

I never did get a burnt taste, but when I went to fill it this morning it was a black mess. There was black sludge around the inner ring. The coil was black. The juice was dark brown. It was clear to a slight pink when I put it in there. I was a bit grossed out. Guess I did burn it, but I never tasted it!

Whenever I blow juice out of an atty.. it always looks like oil and sludge. Goes in clear.. comes out filthy :p

Thank you so much! I will try this. I did take a chance on the burnt tasting one today and oddly, when I removed the little black plastic tip that came with it and put on one of my drip tips, it tasted fine. Could the mouthpiece really make that much difference or did letting it sit overnight do something? Will I ever figure all of this out? I didn't know what I was getting into when I started vaping but I'm hooked now so I guess I'd better start learning. : )

I imagine letting it sit overnight allowed the wick, time to really"wick". I also find that if I use 1.5ML of juice (slightly under filled) on the XL (longer cartos) they wick better. Defiantly not as easy as lighting a cig, but these ecigs/cartomizers are relatively new.

Next up I hope to see these arrive on shelves Giantomizer Royalsmokers (notice the url after the jump is spelled incorrectly).

I tried to clean my first clearomizer last night..Well I ended up breaking the ceramic cup in half but on the up side it works better now than anything else I have

I chipped a few as that cup ring can be a PITA to remove in one piece, but they still work fine. The metal ones are much more durable but then I haven't found a way to tell if there about empty...

Arg~! They were sold out on 510's so I ordered some of the 901/808 xl's and they won't work on my 901 auto batts :( I only have 1 901 manual. I used an 808-501 adapter, but broke the first one because it would not screw on to the adapter completely.

anyone want to trade some 510's for some 808's??

I have one, I'll send you.

Have to say.. I'm NOT impressed at all with these clear ones. I've tried it for a few days now. I have not seen any difference at all, between the regular e2's and my clearomizers. They are even the same size and shape. The ONLY difference is the fact that they are clear... I am still having the same wicking issues and burny taste (after the first 1/2 carto) that I had with my other e2s.

Sorry to say.. I don't think they changed any of the problems.. just made the carto a little different
(clear as opposed to metal)

Just my 2cents...

I cannot get into the fluxomizer/clearomizer just like the ce2r4s. I dry burned before starting, tried to remove the fill ring and bent out of shape the clear tube, never removed it, a pita to fill in slots that seem tinier than the r4s and the taste was just as bad to me. This was a 2.8-3.0 ohm on an eGo. Oh yes, my juice got dramatically darker and gooky looking. I think my next stop will be to try (once I save up after the great Joye co-ops), the eGo tank by Joye. That's an atomizer and zero-fill cart system.
