Wow! Now that it's summer, I'm back into making ice cream. In prior years, my bible was the "Ben and Jerry's Homemade Ice Cream Cookbook". It's a great read and makes a damn good ice cream. That said, this year a friend recommended that I read David Liebowitz's "Perfect Scoop". So I got it and just tried his Chocolate Ice Cream. Again, Wow! It's a much smoother and richer ice cream than I remember B&Js to be. That's probably because 1) it calls for 5 egg yolks, as compared to B&J's 2 whole eggs; and 2) he basically has you make a custard (warm the milk, temper the eggs, cook until it coats the back of the spoon) where B&J just has you add raw eggs (though I always nuked the base to 170 degrees, just to be safe). Anyway, I'd recommend either of these 2 books for you ice cream aficionados. Can't wait to get home from school tonight and have a cup of coffee, fill my Magma with the last of my Sir James and have a bowl of deliciousness.

Good Afternoon Trippyville,
Getting back into the grind after a few days of vacation in Vegas. Went back to the Flamingo where the Trippyville Gang met up for 2013 Vapefest. Had fun but always ready to return home after 3-4 days of being pumped dry of money at every turn..bottled water was $10/quart. Showed off a few Trippy Tips and a Plasma tank to some vapers we met and invited up for a late night cocktail. Showed our newly 21 year-old nephew what Sin City was all about including his 1st and our 7th Cirque du Soleil show. Had a good time, killed a few brain cells and didn't gain a pound even though we revisited the Trattoria Reggiano Italian restaurant that we attended with Bert, Wharf Rat, Cyclin + CaliGirl, Pietro and others on that previous visit. Our nephew had the time of his life and kept up with the big dogs for sure.

ICE CREAM....AAAAAAHHHHHH!! I haven't had any ice cream in over 2 years when I switched that craving to lo-cal yogurt. Now I'm going to have to make some homemade for the 4th celebration.

I hope everyone is well and having a decent week. Brew

We are huge Penney Dreadful fans follow it weekly. Looks like the new episodes going to be a major lookout here comes that witch! Had to comment that everybody on the show was gettin' busy last night. We're going for a Ziebart run in the morning and then I think the wife and I are going to the local park to go to the shooting range for about an hour. Later Saturday I think a nice dinner out and relaxing evening home. Not sure if we're going to do yard work on Sunday as the weather may not hold out. Then a whole lot of Quicken work to enter in all the receipes from what we spent in Las Vegas... Ouch!

Wood? It was 95 degrees here today, lol. I'm just doing housework and some binge TV. I discovered Penny Dreadful on Showtime and want to get caught up before Sunday's episode.
Reidus, You do know it's possible to get "wood" even when it's 95...[emoji38]

Yes we had one of those cold winters - I think we went through a cord and a half but then we had geothermal when it's working. the sandy soil here makes it damned expensive to draw heat so the stove comes in handy. always have three cords up so I got next year's dried and ready to go.
