Good morning. I have some 30 ga twisted nichrome someone sent me.
I have never tried nichrome. Anything special I need to know about it and what is your favorite build?

i have only tried this one build. lower resistance than kanthal, and seems firmer than kanthal.

but i know others here use it frequently

Are you using Ni200 for TC, or Ni80? If 200, I built a couple of coils out of 30, 7 wraps, 2.5mm for about .12. I've since bought 28g Ni200 and built with 9 wraps for .1 to .11.
Is this question for me? I have no clue. Maybe I should ask hemptation..I think he sent it. It's been sitting in the drawer awhile...:|

If it's twisted, it most likely is 80. I don't think I've ever seen anyone do twisted 200. I have only used Ni80 26g. One set of coils is 26g Ni80 twisted with .8X.1mm flat, same 2.5mm, 6 wrap duals for a total of .3 ohms, and another with just straight 26g, duals, also 6 wrap for about .28 ohms.

:shock: wow..did you do that yourself?

Yes super easy tbh just a good old bit of elbow grease! First sanded with 240 grit paper, after doing all over once I then did again under running water. After this did again with 600 grit paper again once then again under running water.

I thought if have to go to 1000 grit afterwards but no need, just too some Brasso metal polish and this thing is chromed to the max after a good polish.

Final application of Renaissance Wax to keep the finger prints as much at bay as possible, of course print will show its chrome but a quick run after setting aside and it's shining perfect again, I love it!

Seriously thinking how cool the SXJ chip in this finish would look but it's not feasible with running water and chip buttons.

That looks fantastic! What did you use, what grits?

240 then 600, secret is to do it under running water. You could go lower but it's pretty perfect as is! Next clean I may do 1000, the Brasso is an amazing cleaner, don't forget this started of with a clear coat on it
