Since it is shorter, it won't have as much "empty chamber" as the full size will have. I can see this making a positive difference for single coil users. Because it is still 24mm, it gives you plenty of room to play around with many coil styles and length.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Chamber size has a direct correlation on taste vs clouds. Big chamber- big clouds light taste. Smaller chamber- less clouds, sharper taste. Large chamber attys like the full size 24mm goon can create great taste but are very coil dependent. Smaller attys like the Narda, O-Atty and theoretically the LP Goon don't require as much fine tuning to capture good to great taste. I say Theoretically due to the fact the LP hasn't been released yet. The only thing I know about the Goon LP thus far is that it will not be made by the same contractor. The 22 and 24 goon had brass terminal blocks, the LP due to tighter tolerances requires all stainless steel for strength. I just wish they had stuck with the 3 holes on either side for the afc like the original Goon and the stumpy.

Ok Catfish folks, I'm now second guessing myself. Which Goon LP do you think would look the best on my dual 18650 squonker? My first thought was brass that will patina and match the wood, but since it has silver and black hybrid resin in it I'm wondering if just regular SS or black would be better?

I think the black base with that Ultem top cap would look quite fetching on it

I'm not sure... I haven't seen any comparison pics vs the 22mm. I would imagine the LP will be shorter due to the need for lower profile posts. The LP will be larger in diameter (24mm) though.

Is there a way you can find out of they are making the LP in Copper? If not, I would want to get a copper in the full-sized run you are preparing for.

I'm so sorry for taking so long with the MM's. I went to instal the negative springs today that arrived Saturday and they are too short. The just barely put pressure on most batteries, 1 of my batteries wouldn't even make contact. Evidently A/AA contacts are too small. I have 50 C contacts on the way.

These are almost 1/4" longer than what I have. They should be perfect. I also have D contacts from a previous adventure but those are enormous. The D contacts would create an auto fire issue if the mod was ever dropped. I think the C contacts will be a happy balance.

By the way I'm almost certain the linked springs above would also work well as Reo Contacts if you wanted to save $4.50 per spring.

Dunno. If the side opened enough for the battery to move over the lip in the plastic, I would expect it to come off completely and the battery come out too.

Edit: just checked mine. The way the plastic is done the contact hits the battery wrap if the battery is up over the lip.

It was originally designed with a spring, but most told him they didn't want one due to the added resistance.(citing REO mods to remove the spring for high power users)

That said, I agree a D cell spring is overkill.
