Hi everyone, new here (obviously). I have been doing tons of research and decided I want to build a cloud chasing mod (or at least one that outputs decent vapor quantities).

What I need to know is...

1. tank suggestions (I want at least one good tank) RBA is fine as I plan on learning to build and am going to jump right in.

2. Dripping atomizer suggestions or rda

3. Mech mod to purchase

4. Battery

5. Where/what type of wire I should buy

6. Anything else I may need.

This thread covers a lot of the *must haves* as far as batteries, meters, kanthal etc

For mechs - Which one do you want? How much are you looking to spend? What is important to you (voltage drop, form factor, button placement, metal type?)

The actual sub-forum of the link above will have tons of info on RBA/RDA/RTAs

I can't see the thread. I'm using tapatalk does that make it not visible?

I was thinking one of the clone mods from 101 vape. They seem relatively cheap so around or less than $40. Aesthetic wise I prefer silver or black. I was eying the black panzer, sentinel, and hades clones. Other than aesthetics, what's the difference between them besides aesthetics like voltage drop form factor and button placement? Do any of those effect performance?

I would have posted there but apparently I need 5 posted topics in this forum, not 5 posts. :|

4. Battery

5. Where/what type of wire I should buy

6. Anything else I may need.

1) Kayfun or Kayfun lite (for single coils) built around .8 ohms... Tanks are generally not a cloud chasing device, but this one will do fine. Aqua (for dual coils).

2) Helios. the "T" center post makes building easier.

3) This is mostly a personal choice decision. A popular one is the Nemesis.

4) 30 amp 18650 IMR battery. Sony VTC5 or orbtronics SX22. + a good charger (which you didn't mention) like the Intellicore i2 or i4.

5) 28 or 26 gauge kanthal for sub ohming, 30 for non sub ohming. Can be bought at Lightning Vapes.

6) Ohm meter, a bookmark to Ohms law calculator Organic cotton balls (drug stores), drill bits (to coil around and increase the bore of a dripper air inlet) small screwdrivers, large bore drip tip, vape rags and LOTS of research first..

Before cloud chasing, stay in the high sub-ohm limits. .8 ohms or so... make sure you are confident about what you're doing. Study up on ohms law calculator, and learn about amp limits for both continuous and pulse. Do research on amp limits on batteries and learn to read the charts. Get some lower nicotine juice, and for showboating, go as high of a vg content for showboating and less throat hit.

Just a quick list. there's much more to say, but your research should cover that. BTW, did I say do your research? I cannot stress that enough. :) pushing to limits can result in an exploding battery, same with not knowing about ohms law calculator, continuous amp draw, and not having a good omh meter. skimping on stuff can be dangerous.

I started vapping about 6 months ago. I started out with an ego, and now I have a bad ... set up. If you're on a budget, you should try to get these:

1. Copper Hades Clone- It holds a 26650 battery and the volt dropage is very low.

2. The best dripper (In my opinion) is a patriot. I'm able to to use 24 gauge wire and build a double coil set up. It produces huge clouds!

3. RTA (Rebuildable Tank Atomizer) the best you can get is a kayfun lite or a Russian 91%. If you want something to fit flush on the hades then you need The Big Russian or a confun sleeve for the kayfun.

4.MKE 26650 and Sony 50am batteries.

5. Buy your kanthal wire off ebay. It's a lot cheaper then a store. 22 gauge(Thick as hell) all the way up to 32 gauge(Very thin and breaks easy)

6. If you have a wife, take over her sewing desk. Its a great set up too!

For clouds you want good airflow, go with a cheap genesis, something you wont mind drilling into to get good airflow. If you find one that can run dual coils all the better.

2. Dripping atomizer suggestions or RDA

Patriot or similar, as with the genesis suggestion above go cheap while you learn because your going to be doing some drilling.

3. Mech mod to purchase

All copper or all brass, 18650 size.

4. Battery

Sony vtc4 or Sony vtc5.

5. Where/what type of wire I should buy

28 gauge to 24 gauge kanthal a1, buy it anywhere it's sold.

6. Anything else I may need.

Ohms meter, multimeter, cotton, variable speed electric drill, wire rod, drill bits, nail clippers, tweezers, 100% VG juice (likely zero to low nicotine strength), a good charger, a dremel tool and all its little bits and bobs.

I cannot see the thread either, and I'm not using tapatalk.

Either of those mods will do. It's more of a personal preference. the 26650 batteries are larger, and offer more of an amp limit, but you'll be limited in what batteries are available. so, if you're reaching for top clouds, go 26650 Hades.

Of course, you could skip batteries all together and go 400w like this guy did: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cill_IbtXiw (Funny, but I've always thought of trying the same thing)

LMAO that video is to funny. For me a Patriot with 2 air holes drilled out to 2mm, duel nano dragon coils cotton wicked. .7 ohms Sitting on my Panzer with a fresh VTC5 Using 100% VG juice. For Genny build its my Kraken duel wicked in cotton micro coil at .5 Ohms on a panzer. Kayfun 3.1 I use double barrel shotgun coil cotton wicked at .5 ohms on the Panzer or Magneto.

Do you realize how many hours, days and weeks I put in just reviewing, comparing, looking at builds, searching proper battery, charger, wire, wraps, ohms, ohms law, continuous amp rating, ohms law, build threads, Youtube reviews, cost analysis, finding searching and understanding what I needed to satisfy my vape needs, objectives and goals before every purchase I make???

Tank: a quality one that works, and makes sense
RDA, a good one that is quality and make sense
Battery, a good one, quality, IMR 30, 35, or 50 amp continuous. Just not knowing that item, kind of pizzes me off. Not knowing this tells me you are not cloud worthy
where, bling, goggle, chrome are you friends. The good chit is tough to score, clones are everywhere. just look
Anything, everything else, just look in this forum it is all there in black and white, all you have to do is search and read, and read and search. It's all about learning.

Cloud chasing is no real big deal, all you need is the right gear with the right knowledge and plenty of practice getting there.

I don't know, I have a pretty bottom dollar I-ATTY that chucks clouds pretty swell.

Is it going to competition level cloud making? No, but it'll do a respectable job in the process.

At a reasonably conservative 0.4 Ohms on cotton with a 1/8" air hole, it's nice. Your not going to vape and drive with your windows up at least. And that's on 50% VG not 100%.

I'd strongly suggest putting your money into a good copper mod, batteries, and charger. Your going to screw up a high dollar topper in the process of learning and modifying things to chase the clouds.

As for learning, let's be real for a moment about safety. Never exceed the Amp limit of your battery. Period.

To figure this out you must know the state of your batteries charge in volts, it shouldn't be over 4.20, this is why you must have both a good charger and a good multimeter.

Next you'll need to know the resistance of your coil, the lower your resistance the faster you'll draw power (higher Amp draw). Resistance is measured in Ohms, get an ohm meter or use the multimeter.

Plug both bits of info into a calculator to find out what Amps you will draw every time you tap that switch. If its over your batteries Amp limit, build another coil with more wire length or thinner wire. Go through the process again.

Leave yourself a bit of room for safety, say 10% on Amps, this means on a 30 Amp battery don't push things past 27 Amps.

For safetys sake if your battery gets warm, it's done. A warm or hot atty can be expected but not the battery.

In any case clouds are just a function of vaporizing lots of juice really fast mixed with lots of air. You need a very fast wick(s), lots of power to do the vaporizing as cool juice flows to the coil(s), and plenty of air flow across the wicks to move the atomized juice out of the top cap (read large full lung hits).

So much info! Thank you Maurice.

As for tank I've been suggested the kayfun lite plus or aqua clone from 101 vape. How would those do? If I don't need to drill holes I would prefer not to personally.

Are there any RDA's that don't require drilling?

Do I need brass? what about the magneto stainless mod or black panzer? I even liked the look of the sentinel clone.

What brand charger should I get?

Honestly, for clouds and flavor I'm using 28g Kanthal (Parallel coiled) Running .4 Ohms in a Brass Monkee sitting on top of a Hades mod (not copper unfortunately). It's freaking awesome. The vapor isn't too hot and I can vape up a room pretty quick. Using a 30/70 Juice 12mg Juice; Lemon Sweet Tart Mix, if you care about that.

Thank you! I forgot to mention I also am looking for a cool vape as opposed to hot since I'm coming from hookah and not cigarettes.
