Thanks for the opinions...definitely helps solidify my own feelings on the subject.

I'm in total agreement with everyone about the physical reinforcement that vapor gives--it's what makes smoking...well, smoking for me as well. Like Mary Kay put so well: I think just need an analog's amount of vapor to satisfy that smoking desire.

Also gotta say it's been a total no-brainer on quitting analogs this time: it's so much like smoking that I haven't had any desire to go back. Plus I can vape in places I couldn't smoke, so it's even more enjoyable.

As for the smell of the vapor, a couple of stories: my wife and I work at the same company and she knows I've been quietly vaping in my office instead of going down to the loading dock for a smoke break like I used to with the analogs. She came in one day that I'd been vaping some Red Cow carto's from V4L about an hour before and mentioned that my office had a "sweetish" smell in the air-- not objectionable, but there was something.

Story 2, which could be just paranoia: I'm out of town this week at a convention in a totally non-smoking hotel (with a $250 penalty for anyone caught smoking in a room). Of course, I've been happily vaping away on a chocolate carto--nothing major, just a few puffs here and there. At one point, I put down my 808 and went down the hall to the ice machine. When I came back in, I definitely could smell something (and no, it wasn't my old socks...8-o). Again, in no way could it have been considered cigarette like in the least, but again...something.

As to the quantity of vapor: Who knows, maybe I just have "vapor envy"...probably just some f***ed up macho guy thing about who's got bigger vapor...

I was also thinking it just could be a way to justify buying more toys...that Silver Bullet looks sweet, and so does the Protege, and the Super T...man, a guy could go broke if he's not careful...

This is the first time I've heard that. I sit in the middle of an office puffing out clouds all day, and then come home and hit my 510 all evening next to the non-smoker wife with allergies to everything under the sun. No one has been able to smell it so far.

I'd imagine that it depends on both the juice and, to some extent, the PV.

The home made juice I make has a slight scent of vanilla. My wife's been able to tell when I've been vaping any number of times. Her home made juice definitely has a scent, especially when she uses mint.

The standard juice we've bought has a slighter, but still detectable, scent to the vapor.

It might also depend on how sensitive a person's sense of smell is; and having allergies does not make one a bloodhound. ;)

In your bushes, watching you undress
The reasons have been relayed in the above posts, I won't rehash it... I feel the same. More 'smoke-like' because vaping is a smoking substitute.

But on to the "does vapor have a scent"... it absolutely does in some e-liquids.

In the beginning, I couldn't smell anything, my wife didn't really either. Then I started getting 'exotic' and sampling many different flavors. We quickly noticed some have an aroma and some do not. I also noticed that upon reentering a room later on that I was previously vaping in... I absolutely CAN smell it lingering.

I vape many different flavors all day long, but each and EVERY time I pop in Dawn's "Red Hots" my wife whips around and asks "Red Hots?" as if she were vaping it herself. So anyone saying that vapor has no odor is either ignorant to that fact, or is vaping a particular e-liquid that does not produce a strong, or maybe even detectable aroma.

My 901 gives off more vapor than my American Spirits ever gave off smoke. Which for me easily satisfies my ritual of smoking needs.

Some e-liquids have a stong scent. JuicyLiquid's caramel can be smelled across my office. My car reaked of it (it did go away after I stopped using it in the car after only a couple of days - nothing like cigarette smoke...). And if this isn't a problem for you then I can say JuicyLiquid caramel is fantastic, it was one of my favorite flavors for a long time. On the otherhand, my 'lemonhead' DIY liquid seems undetectable.
