Hi everyone, I'm a vaper from central Illinois, and am new at vaping , about 3 months in. Still 'cheat" occasionally, but only first thing in the morning, (not every morning, maybe once a week, although it's been two weeks now) and once when my mod batteries died. Looking to completely get the old stinky brown tobacco monkey off me for once and for all. I've had more success with vaping than any other method ever, and i enjoy the flavors and neat gadgets too.

Welcome aboard kaotikross!

I "cheated" for about 3-1/2 years before I could get the "stinky monkey" off my back ;) If you're only having a cigarette once in awhile, compare that to what you had been smoking. It's more about the ones that vaping can help you avoid :)

I'd finally gotten to a point where I'd spent a substantial amount on vape things that I couldn't justify buying cigarettes on top of all the other stuff. That was over six months ago!

You'll completely be done when you're finally ready. Don't push it or make it a "chore".

What kind of gear are you using? What flavor(s) do ya like? You've found a great spot here on ECF. Super nice folks out here, and lots of smart people in case you have any questions...

Welcome and congratulations! I'm about 5 months into vaping, and still 'cheat' occasionally too. I will usually have about one real one a week at work, never crave it at home. But I was a two pack a day smoker so I don't get too hard on myself for the occasional cheat. I still feel way better, and am spending less. Good luck to you completely getting off the analogs, and I'll be trying with you :)

In 2010 I bought a Joye 510 and immediately dropped from 2 PAD to 6 cigs a day in the first week. It wasn't forced, I just forgot to smoke and didn't feel the need to with 24mg juice. Shortly afterwards I bought an eGo and a pack of cartos. That reinforced my desire to stay at 6 a day. I smoked a couple with coffee in the morning and one after each meal during the day.

I rocked on like that for 2 years. One day upon a suggestion by a forum member I decided to vape after meals along with my after meal cigarette. I'd vape and smoke alternately and compare the two. The cigarette tasted pretty nasty and the vape tasted really good. Doing that made me realize I didn't need the cigarettes anymore. One day I decided I would finish the pack I had and then just not buy any more.

Pretty soon I could be around smokers and not even want one. I was convinced that quitting would be hard, but it was easy since I had only smoked 6 a day for a couple of years. I know I could have quit a year and a half before by tapering down and really wish I hadn't procrastinated.

Vaping works well to put down the stinkies, but you don't have to do it immediately. Vaping lets you taper down and slowly quit with no cravings once you decide you don't need them anymore. For me, that was the way to give them up without distress.
