I have to commend All About Vapor here in Austin. They have a full-page ad in this week's Chronicle (our alternative weekly newspaper) split into 2 ads. One is to advertise a Halloween party they are cosponsoring, headlined by the band Filter. Not that Filter is something to scream about but between that and the (pricey) ad, it looks like they are doing well.

However, the second ad on the page is for their actual store. The main focus of the ad is three questions you supposedly should ask any juice vendor, the first being if they use coconut oil. It says that if any vendor answers "yes", you should "leave that store immediately". I've never seen any info here on coconut oil or that it is toxic somehow. What gives?

It sounds like someone doesn't know what they are talking about. I think most vapers are well aware that oils are a no no. The lungs are not able to break down oils and it causes a very dangerous pneumonia type illness. I can't imagine any business advocating this sort of thing. Since it was an alternative type article are you sure they weren't talking about totally separate issues?

That's exactly my point. It's kind of like this ad advising everyone to ask if their vendor uses strychnine in their juices. :glare:

I don't know what else to call them, but I used "alternative paper" only to mean the typical weekly newspapers in big cities that aren't the standard daily newspapers, more focused on local news, arts bands nightlife etc. But to be clear it wasn't an article, just an advertisement.

I am an advocate of coconut oil and have used it. It is anti fungal and anti bacterial. It can even be used for cooking which I have done. Years ago it was used in most of the products we bought---back before everyone went to vegetable oils that are so thoroughly marketed by big AG...and before everyone had every illness known to man. Do some research the results are quite amazing. Just don't use it for vaping.

Maybe this picture of the ad will make some appreciate why I think it's weird. You probably can't see the "questions" because they're the smallest print. I'll also point out that the third question to "ask your vendor" is if they use a non-kosher base. I've never thought to ask that
