hello there. first i would like to apologize in advance if this is off topic i didnt know exactly where to post this. anyway i just threw myself out into the world of coil building and its so much fun however, the last build i made was a aproximately 0,8 ohms build on a i stick pico mod with a aspire quad survival kit (highly reccomandable btw) and it was a very good build . BUT suddenly it began to taste burnt and when i checked the rda tank i noticed the coil was glowing whenever i fired up the mod even though there was plenty of juice in the deck ?. i then tried to replace the homemade coil with a pre made one but same result . now im only a beginner at this so im a bit concerned and dont know what i did wrong actually , can anyone make a guess ? thank you in advance

it sounds to me you are putting to much cotton in the coil. wicking is harder to get right than making coils. if you put to much in you get dry hits to little leakage. try putting les in you want so it touches the coil but not that tight that if you try to pull it out the coil moves with it. also with this build you want the tails of the wicks hanging just above the bottom of the tank not touching the base. stick with it practice makes perfect once you get the knack the balance of the universe will be restored.

Hard to say what is Going On. But if the Coil was Glowing, some is Seriously Wrong.

It could be that you Pico is seeing the Wrong Ohms. If your Pico thinks that you have a say 3.0 Ohm Resistance Coil on your Atomizer, it is going to dump a lot of Volts into the Coil to achieve the Watts you are set for.

Reading the ohms Incorrectly high could be caused by a Lose Connection somewhere in the Atomizer. Or a Bad connection between the Atomizer and the Mod.

1st thing I would do is Check ALL the Connection Points.

Thanks for your reply just to be sure i should still tuck the cotton in under the coil right ?

75 watt and a 26 ga kanthal wire

Ooooh. Maybe start it lower (30-40W) and work your way up? I typically don't run things anywhere near that warm, but you really want to make sure you have good airflow as well.

75W on a 0.8Ω coil is pulling 9.5-10A. Don't know if kanthal can handle that? Someone smarter than I will hopefully be along with additional thoughts?

Are you using the tank in rdta mode? In that case the wick tails need to go down into the glass tank. Otherwise they don't come into contact with the liquid.

is it a dual or single coil setup? I personally think 75W for 26ga kanthal is a tad too much power. I've only found myself needing to go above 60W with complex wire dual coil builds. Actually prefer to vape at the lowest power setting possible since you conserve juice and battery life.
