I just like my vape with all the known material used in the gear, well, known...its about safety

But good on yer to the bleeding edgers and "look what i have"'r's, someone has to be a guinea pig for the chinese who like throwing new stuff out to entice you to spend money you dont have, on gear you dont need, and if you know happen to poison yourself in the meantime, well thats secndary to being able to say "look what i have" in a forum. I mean its not like the chinese ever produced something as gobsmackingly simple as baby formula and it went wrong...killed 4 known babies and poisoned 54,000 more babies. And people in Australia wonder why its hard to get formula here, because asian families raid the shelves and send it to China...anyhoo, yup China, they make really safe stuff because theyre good at chemistry....or actually adding things that kill people.

Ceramics (or Chinamics)...not for me, ceramic belongs in the tiles on my floor, not in my lungs

Then theres tungsten, which is believed to be the material inside the cvu, umm guess who has 2/3 the worlds supply of tungsten, anyone? anyone?...China. Oh btw, i hope the outer ceramic (sorry, Chinamic) material never cracks, welcome to tungsten irritation/toxicity.....i hope theres no thorium in their tungsten either, you dont want that in your lungs, i try and steer clear of radioactivity. Surely the chinese wouldnt just half ... their tungsten too?I was especially careful when TIG welding back in the day, wore face masks when grinding tungsten electrodes and using them..Wouldnt be my first choice of a vaping wire/electrode....oh wait, ceramics (sorry again, Chinamics) porous....gee that could be a problem...

Tungsten, Its not as benign as you want to think it is.

And lastly to the "look at me"'r's:

Must be nice to have the level of disposable income that some have, me i buy the best middle of the road gear that simply helps me avoid smoking...kinda thought that was the point of vaping - not smoking, but you know...

Maybe ill get to the point where i can see something advertised for a ludicrous price with sketchy safety and like buy 3 of them to hold over the peons on here

You asked for it, i delivered....

It's an American product, designed by an American engineering student, Made In America, the MSDS and safety related testing data will be released shortly, forgive the inventor for not wanting China to steal his idea the first we he released the product. Are you done fear mongering with innuendo?

If paying $120 for an atty is rubbing it in your false modest face then call a wambulance. I also don't apologize for having 3 Reuleaux DNA200 mods. I have 2 to use and I always keep a backup device, & they cost me more and are cheap compared to my sold off collection of Zenesis hybrids collection I dumped years ago. A long time ago I paid $225 each for my 6 Squape attys, (of which I still have 3, I never could sell them for half price, but I digress) , $150 for genny atty, $150 on average, was pretty typical for genny attys, & they didn't even include a heating element that lasted years.

Sounds like sourgrapes to me. I only mentioned I bought 3 because I wanted it very clearly noted by my actions that I liked the product enough to go all in and switch my vape routine around it and too impress upon you that maybe you stop bashing this poor Physics student's ideas and give it a chance and quit your belly aching.

I also simply need 2 Altus Tanks for the 2 flavors of juice I vape the most, and a backup device. I sure as hell didn't come here after years of hibernation away from the luddite forum just to subject myself to be ridiculed for the hell of it. After reading the vitriolic and poisonous comments by foundation less naysayers who .... on anything new or nonconformist, I felt compelled to chime in with my experience. I mentioned I bought 3 Altus Tanks because of the confidence in the product and the company. I sure as hell wouldn't have, if the device sucked, and I certainly wouldn't waste my time just to single you out, and make you feel like an insecure failure in life. Cheer up, it will be over sooner before you know it for both of us. You're so curious about what the CVU is made of? Watch a video and please don't talk while you watch it so that small part of your brain that tries to comprehends things logically can grasp the information without listening through all that noise coming from your mouth.

It's an American product, designed by an American engineering student, Made In America

This is something that's easily confused alot. "Made in the USA" and "Designed in the USA" are not the same thing.

The iPhone as an example is designed in California (USA) and mass-produced overseas. Same can be said for something like this Atomizer or a Wismec mod designed by Jaybo. Although it is designed here you can not slap a Made in the USA logo on it. Companies have been sued for false claims over this, unless a product is made and assembled in the US it is not "Made in the USA". An example of a true made in the USA mod would be a Provari, a Reo or even a Zen mod which are both designed and fully assembled right here.

I remember when the 1st Clearos came out. And they Cracked using certain Flavorings. People said that Clearos would never be Popular.

And I remember when people tried Cotton as a Wick Material. And the Screaming that the Wick was going to Burn. And that Atomizers were going to Catch Fire.

And I remember when the 1st Gen TC Mods hit the market. The reviews were Not so good. Many said that TC was a Scam or a Fad. And that it would Never go Mainstream.

I think the type of Heating Element in the Altus will go the Same way. 1st Generation attempts with So-So results. Future iterations that incorporate Improvements from subsequent ones.

Mea Culpa, you are correct. I caught a glimpse of the bottom of box and saw USA and missed the "designed in the..." part. On a lighter note, at least the price will come down eventually when it's more ubiquitous and then people will have one less thing to ..... about, but I'm sure they'll find fault with something.

They may become popular, they may not, however this is nothing new or revolutionary.
This technology is already available, and by actually following the links provided above in this thread you can see what's up.

It's cash grab advertising, marketed to the uninformed.

Quite the contrary, the number of facilities even equipped with the processes, available resources, and required present day technologies capable of making the CVU are as rare as you making a single objective statement not based on superfluous hyperbole. (CHINA isn't on the list, if there even was a list)

That comes directly from the man who knows the man who knows what he is talking about.

You will never convince the yes men, the true believers...just look at how many still worship at the altar of that skivvy wearing false prophet ...... called Jobs...never invented a thing, yet the sheeple still insist he invented everything at Apple....meanwhile poor old Woz is still just getting the crumbs....

The only thing worse than ceramics (sorry Chinamics) fanboys are Apple lemmings

Sometimes its seems the gap is closing though

Note: I was designed in my daddies testes and made in my mummies tummy, and i came out overhyped and defective too

I was wrong in my guesses, it actually is a ceramic heating element. The initial grainy images, unusual shape (for a heating element) and fact that it only had solder tabs (I've just never seen them without leads attached) threw me off.

It does nothing to change my overall opinion of the device or the people behind it though. Every representation I've seen up to my first posts raised red flags, everything I've seen and heard since only raise more. All the hallmarks of an organization making false/misleading claims are there. Its the only reason I'm so harsh with the Altus.

There are dozens, if not hundreds of manufacturers of ceramic heating elements in China, a few with well over a hundred elements made for vaping. Mainly oil, wax and dry herb stuff, but many have 3.7V lines of coils..err...elements that could easily be used for vaping e-liquid and they've been doing it for years and years.

For the people that want this don't worry the second china gets a hold of this they'll be available for 20-30 bucks.

Gigue has already handed out samples the Dolphin, an original design of their own, to most reviewers without resorting to any preposterous claims. Its a 1/3 the cost, top fill, vastly superior wick method and it can be dry burned. Were I interested in that type of product, costs of replacement parts are something I'd want to know before committing to buy, but from what I'm seeing its a far more promising product.

Diversity, coherent redundancy, etc., the security model, it's what makes this planetary interface we call the internet viable. Steve Jobs' brilliance was to discern that in this optimal environment common standards which he championed and made integral to Apple systems could make such divers functionality transparent and human. That all these elements could work together flawlessly exploding user utility across the medium. He was a visionary.
Good luck.
