Up until today, I have been using dual coil cartos in my tanks.

Last night I received my orders of both Boge and Ikenvape single coil cartos. My first impression is that they vape pretty much exactly like the dual coils.

But it got me to thinking (a painful process) about coil placement in the carto.

I understand how a dual carto is built. One coil near the threaded end (bottom) , and another more towards the end (top).

Because both the dual and single coil cartos are rated at 2.0 Ohms, the single coil's coil should be about equal to the length of the 2 coils in a dual, laid end to end. Right? 2 Ohms is 2 Ohms. ( I initially thought that the single coil cartos might use less battery, until I did the math again. Duh!)

So, because the single coil is longer, is it centered in the carto sleeve?
Is one brand's coil more towards the bottom, while the other brand's is more toward the end?
Neither brand's website describes this.

Anyone know?
Does placement matter in regards to vapor amount, flavor, or heat?

I've not dissected a cartomizer before, but I've always assumed that the single coil was located in the lower third of the the shaft, near the laser-drilled hole.

I made a switch from dual coils to single coils fairly early in my use of cartotanks. I did this after experiencing frequent burnt taste in my tanks after a couple of days use. After the switch, that burnt taste rarely returned.

I attributed this to the fact that the uppermost coil likely lies way above the wick holes in the carto, and may over time not get enough juice wicking in the filler surrounding it. It ends up burning the filler or the insulater sock that covers the heating coil.

Here's some pics from the web of a dissected dual coil cartomizer. Notice the singed or burnt insulater coving that was around the coils.
