Food coloring is not recommended. There is no research stating that adding food coloring is safe to vape. So i would err on the side of caution and stay away from it until you've done some searching on the subject.

I agree, but some of the most popular juices out at stores do not look natural IMO (neon green, etc). It makes your tank looks pretty cool, but there has to be something else than food coloring...

Danny I really appreciate your responses, been very helpful.

Is there "research" showing that PG, VG, Artificial and Natural Flavorings are safe to take into your lungs? Not being snipy, just curious.

What ever research has been done does not show it being harmful. And most doctors including my own consider it far safer then smoking. Any negitive reports harp more on the mishandling of nicotine base more then anything else. And the fancy colorfull bubble gum packaging of juice may attract kids.

Thanks for the reply. I was just wondering if the food coloring used in the manufacturing of the flavors was potentially more hazardous than the other flavor components.

As cool as colors are, they aren't any good for your carto/atty/coil. IMO, if it doesn't necessarily "enhance" the vape, it isn't worth trying.

I won't advocate, but an extremely popular juicemaker told me that he uses minute amounts of food coloring in his juices. Personally, I've used it before only when taking product photos of PVs and all.

Food coloring is not used in the manufacturing of flavoring concentrates. It is used by some juice resellers that make there own juice. I choose not to use those products because the risks are unknown. This is why I make my own juice.

Not entirely true. There are some flavoring manufacturers that utilize food coloring - Watkins is one that comes to mind.

Now, towards those companies that we normally purchase from, such as TFA, Capella, etc., I don't imagine that they do.

Food coloring is not recommended. I know some vendors use them in their juices, but I am not a fan of this. Many people have food coloring allergies and I shutter to think what the results of inhalation would be for them. At the very least vendors that use them should list what they are exactly, for this reason alone. Example: Yellow Dye #5. I know several people that have quite extreme reactions to food colors. We can't stop you from favoring "cool" over risk, but I don't think you will get much encouragement here. The colored tank tube is probably the safest option.

And no, I don't know of others substances besides food colors that are used. And some flavoring compounds themselves have a color to them.

None of them advertise as Vape Safe. I just looked at TPA/TFA and LA and they don't mention vaping at all. Just because a nic or hardware web seller sells them on their website doesn't mean the manufacturers condone vaping with them. That's a law suit waiting to happen.

The reason I ask my question is that I was looking for a grape flavor and everyone was having "heart attacks" over the coloring of LA grape flavor. One user made a batch and wouldn't taste it solely because of the color. I'm not going to pass up potentially good flavors because of hearsay that "Colorings are not safe". There is no documentation that any of the components in juice including coloring are safe or unsafe for inhalation. Until I find out different I will treat colored flavorings the same way I did red M&M in the 80's. I ate them.
