ok folks, I just made a batch of tobacco 'extract' by simmering down straight cigg tobacco- added some McCormicks Coconut extract and Rum Extract, but I'm not getting any vapour- I'm smoking it htrough the SmartFixx Mini Cigg, so it's not realyl the greatest to try it with vapourwise, but I'm getting perhaps three solid draws of good vapour, then nothing. Did I perhaps not simmer the Tobacco down enough and it's maybe too thin and watery? Or am I not adding enough extract? What percentages do you mix the extract to tobacco juice? And how thick do you render down your homade tobacco juice? [The McCormicks Coconut and Rum both have the PPG in it- alcohol based, so it shoudl smoke well, but only gives off about three solid vapours then wimps out- the SmartFixx Cart is still soaked, but just not vapourizing for osme reason]

Not sure what the problem is. I make my own much the same way: Simmer (never boil) the tobacco just covered with water. I began with 30 minutes, but found I could (and probably should) go a lot longer. So I do an hour or more of cooking. That gets filtered through a coffee filter (but I need much better, lab quality filters that I hope to get this week). This is mostly for flavor and I have no idea how much nicotine is cooked out. Eighty percent of the final product is vegetable glycerine anyhow. I then add some tobacco liquid and about an equal amount of other flavor, such as vanilla extract. I get the same quantity of vapor as with the commercial e-liquid.

This last time I added some Kahlua liquor, but I don't think it did much besides thin the fluid. I prefer Cook's Vanilla Extract for a much stronger flavor (no wimp flavors need apply).

Yeah I think my atomizer just died- But like how much extract do you add? A few drops? or a teasoon or so? I have an 60 ml bottle and added avout 3-4 ml extract and fileld the rest with the tobacco juice that I simmered down- the taste is good, but liek i said, my atomizer is dead so I couldn't get much smoke at all before it fulyl died, so can't rewally comment on how long a few drops in the cartidge owuld have lasted- would you say a few drops on cartidge would = about a cigarrete? or a couple? Also, did you mean that the cooked down tobacco juice is glycerin? or do you add glycerin to the tobacco juice?

Vegetable glycerine is the basis for the whole thing. In quantity from 1 to 10, it's an 8. 80% is glycerine. Then I add only a little cooked tobacco liquid for some nicotine and flavor, and some extract for compatible flavor. My only problem so far is that the liquid is still too thin. It becomes runny in the cartridge. Backs up into my mouth sometimes.

I have not yet experienced any atomizer failure, but I'm not using clogging fluids. No oils, ever. I've been going back and forth from home-made to commercial and can't tell much difference, except home-made tastes better. Same vapor. Jury is out on the atomizers.

Bob- thaks for hte reply- ok, so what exactly is vegetable glycerin? Does it say that on the label? or is it like a thickening agent for cooking or something? What would I look for in the gorcery store that woudl be pure glycerin? [would it be in baking goods section or in cooking oils section? Not sure exactly what to look for- supermarkets make me dizzy lol]
My atomizer definately died- just ttwo days after gettign it- SmartFixx is sending out another kit- very good service, I just hope the product lasts a bit longer [like at least a month or more] this time to justify hte cost + cost of smoking materials comapred to the cost I pay now ofr regualr Ciggs per month. I am getting the PenStyle too [which I just bought yesterday before my mini kicked hte bucket]- so maybe that'll last a bit longer hopefully. Would liek to refill my own Carts a few times as the replacement carts for SmartFixx are quite expensive

Nazareth: I went to a local health food store -- there are several, even in my relatively small town -- and asked for it. They were out of stock on it, but ordered some. It was about $5 for a good-sized bottle that will last a year or more. It's very useful for cooks and the quality is top grade. Funny, but it's a byproduct of biodiesel production, and, since my personal car by choice is a VW Jetta TDI (diesel), I feel all warm and fuzzy using glyerine. Kinda completes an eco-loop!

Anyhow, my e-cig is still a bit runny as I haven't got the liquid consistency just right yet. Too wet, and it leaks past the filter into the mouthpiece; two thick, and an atomizer might clog. For test purposes, I'm alternating two identical cigs, one using only factory fluid and one exclusively home-made fluid. So far, the factory fluid (as found in original cartridges, not dripped or refilled) is superior in every way but taste -- and taste is a personal preference, I know.

More experimentation lies ahead ...

Thanks Again Bob- I'll have to travel quite a ways to find a healthfood store, but I'll also be lookign for more variety flavorings at hte same time, so I'll make a day of it some day. Also have to find some pure PG- might pick some up from Bickfoird's if they'll sell it to me. Just got a Penstyle Cigg from SmartFixx this morning- wow- lot's of vapor- much much more than the Mini I got from them. Not goign to experiment with hte Penstyle though- at least for now. Will experiment with hte Mini replacement that SmartFixx is sending me since mine was practically dead on arrival. You've been a great help, and I feel like I've been a bit of a pain asking all these questions- thanks for being patient Bob- I've learned a lot already just in the few days I've been onm this forum- everyoen has been great- glad I foudn this forum :)

OK, I've got my new favorite flavor combo going now! :D
Actually, I guess you would have to say that it's more of a new method, rather than flavor.....but the flavor is quite different also.

It is a combo technique using Katink's straw method and Tropical Bob's EZ Quit. I took the mint cartridge out of the EZ Quit cigarette and cut off a small piece which serves as the "straw". It's not an "empty" straw because it has the mint core, but that doesn't seem to make a difference. I removed the fiber from a cartridge, inserted the "EZ Quit straw", then cut off a piece of the fiber to use as a cap over the straw. At that point, you can refill with e-liquid by either dripping onto the atomizer or the fiber.

When you sip on the e-cig you get a very cool, refreshing, minty taste. I was a menthol smoker, so this might not appeal to everyone. One e-cig has melon e-liquid and another one has chocolate. Both are really good with the mint straw.

It probably sounds a little complicated, but it you have an EZ Quit laying around, it just takes a few seconds to assemble.

Would this also work with an Endit, TB? I don't have one of those, so I don't know how they are constructed.
