Oh, and as far as combining flavors, I change flavors throughout the day, and there's always a little at least left of the old flavor in the atomizer, so I get a few puffs of a combo flavor. I start the morning off with extra high strength coffee flavor, which mixes with the leftover low strength chocolate from the night before, fr a nice mocha. Later I put in either high or medium menthol or cherry, either of which blend well with the coffee. And then at night while winding down for bed, I put in low strength chocolate, which blends well with either the cherry or the menthol. The only combination I don't like is the cherry and the menthol, so I usually avoid swapping between the two.

Good for you. Recipe experimentation is great. But DIY is one way to make use of "useless" tobacco and get a new flavor at the same time. For instance: I love Kahlua cigars (Drew Estate has announced it is stopping production and I'm wearing a black armband). But what about those cigar butts left over? I used to save them, chop them up and mix them with pipe tobacco. That works well. Now, however, they can be "cooked" for flavor, producing a tobacco-based liquid for mixing with other flavors or "tasteless" e-liquid. Ditto for (yuck) leftover cigarette tobacco. I no longer smoke cigarettes, but the tobacco could be dumped into a jar, then cooked for the REAL flavor of Marlboro. My favorite flavor is "flue-cured tobacco" and I'm just seeking another, very inexpensive, route to an end. Whatever I produce gets mixed with coffee, menthol, vanilla or chocolate commercial e-liquid for a final smoking liquid.

No. You won't get drunk. But you probably won't get much vapor either. Bickford (see source list in this thread) sells flavors based in propylene glycol -- exactly the same vaporizing chemical used in commercial e-liquid. I think those flavors would be your best compromise. That said, I've used vanilla extract that is alcohol-based. I "cut" commercial e-liquid with it and get much better flavor that way.

I'm thinking this is the way to go. I can "cook" my own nicotine from any tobacco I like and then use the Bickford flavor of my choice. I'm just finishing up a chocolate, cream and methol batch. Next comes a mix of all the tropical fruit flavors (I ordered a sample pack of all flavors and just squeeze the liquid into empty bottles to mix up a new flavor). I love Dr. Jim's recipes at the beginning of this thread. That started me on this.

TropicalBob,
I have a 30 ml eliquid - not sure of strengh or flavor. I recently have been trying different flavors. I like vanilla.
Can I just add some drops (how many) to the 30 ml bottle to make it taste like vanilla?
As I stated in another thread I'm not into cooking and I'm not sure about the process of dripping yet. However, I would be more motivated to learn and start if it were as simple as adding some drops to what I already have.
Does it matter if it is "pure vanilla extract" or a "vanilla flavor?"

Hey there. What I did that worked for me was to add 6 drops of vanilla extract to about 5ml of E-Liquid regular tobacco taste. It was just a guess, but I liked it. I had half a bottle of E-Liquid with the blah regular taste and kicked it up a notch. I haven't done further tests, but intend to. What I really want to do is smoke the Bickford flavors straight -- no nicotine liquid at all.

Just beware the ingredients of the extract you use. No oils. That's the big one. You are coating your lungs with whatever you inhale, so stick with PG or alcohol-based extracts. Bickford is PG based. Commerical E-Liquid is PG-based.

I haven't tried to add anything to my 30ml vial. I think what I'd do is squirt about 5ml in a spare bottle, then add vanilla. Try some with the 6 drops. Maybe you want stronger. Add more drops. I remain underwhelmed by every commerical "taste" I've tried. Tonight I squeezed liquid from "fruit" flavor cartridges -- orange, pineapple and melon into a new mix. It's tasty but so weak I can't really say I'm impressed.

Just in case the bickford flavors show to be too strong (won't be that way easily for you I think, TB ;) - but who knows): do you know where to buy good grade pure PG then to mix it with? I buy mine from a sheep-doctor's store, in litre-bottles. Just a few euro each. Crystal-clear stuff, used as sheep-medicine (used for cows too; probably for many animals).
So that would be the kind of store to look into in the states too, I imagine.

Katink, when I placed the order for the flavor extracts, I asked Bickford if it was possible to purchase the plain PG. They said it was not one of their usually sold products, but that they would be willing to do so. The smallest size available was 1 quart (32 oz) for $17.95. So that's another option for those of us who don't have any sheep-doctor's stores around. :D :p
