Hopefuly the right eyes on this. As of now I'm using a High Drain, Li-Mn IMR 18650 1600mAh. Now I only have one and am wondering if I should try another type. Not that I've taken issue with this particular battery, but the question is on my mind.

Candidates:

MNKE IMR 26650 4000mAh LiMN 3.7v or 18650 version
18650 2600mah Sony US18650VTC5 or VTC4

I know the sony has a higher discharge of 30amp as apposed to MK at 20. But is the switch necessary? I'm sure they hit a bit harder and possibly last longer. Anyways, just humming out loud here...

Also for reference, I'm running coils at no lower than .5

MNKEs for over all performance + life
Sony for pure performance.

The Sony will consistently put out higher voltage under load than the MNKE, but it won't last as long. At .5 ohms you are only hitting 8.4 amps, well under the continuous discharge rating for both of them. I'd say go with the MNKE and change out batteries less often, but that's just my opinion.

That's what I figured - fast out the gate but quick to fade.

Exactly, I'm no where near the danger zone. So maybe even the MNKE 26650 is not necessary. 18650 MKNE? If so, over the IMR? I may get hammered for that question. I'm sure on here many strong opinions exist for both

You do know that the MNKE 26650 is a huge battery (including the diameter), right? It won't fit in an 18650 mod. (You didn't say what mod you were using.)

Just for size comparisons, the battery on the far right is a 26650 battery, and the one just to its left is an 18650.

Right now I'm using a changeling. But I've been eying some of the stubby mods. I guess my real question is more for the brand in it either size category - sony makes a 26650 as well. I know I'm beneath the needs of some of the 18650's even with my build of .8 Ohm.

Eh, I use aw imr for my provari and mnke for mechs, although I do have a couple of Sony ones. I've been thinking of getting a 26650 mech just for cloud chasing on the go, as I hear you can carry a lot fewer batteries with you. Somebody on here said they were getting 4-5 hours on them, which sounds pretty great, but I have no personal experience with them.

It's a shame that most Li-ion and Li-Mn batteries got their design start in the flashlight business. Maybe someone will begin to design batteries especially for vapers. The MVP seems to be moving in that direction, although I don't really know what the built-in batteries for those actually are. The MVP says it's 2600mah. I also wonder what happens when it begins to fail. Do you buy a new MVP?

It's a 26500, the 26650 is the same height as the 18650 (just so there won't be any confusion)

Yup, you buy a new MVP. The MVP uses a LiPo battery pack and is not replaceable.

The battery in the MVP is a LIPO cell. Now web search "worlds most dangerous battery". I wouldn't even let my mother in law use that battery!

Now look up "LIPO bags". The fact that LIPO bags even exist should tell us something!

Ok when you look at mod and it say it takes a 18650 bat. Which 18650 bat to buy.
I see a lot of different 18650 bat on the market.

Look for Lithium Manganese (LIMN) chemistry, after that it depends on intended use (amp limit).

Basically there are three types of Li Ion batteries.

    *Lithium Polymer (LIPO)
    *Lithium Cobalt (ICR)
    *Lithium Manganese (IMR)
Lipo cells cost the least, plus they have the highest mAh, but are the most dangerous.
IMR cells cost the most, plus they have the lowest mAh, but are the safest.

Guess which one Chinese manufacturers choose to use the most!

I was using the IMR with an SVD but I feel as though MNKE have a better standing for mech. I've looked at a few benchmarks but there are so many factors involved pertaining to the build, age of batt or even charger and charging practice and so on - which makes me doubt the valitity of the tests. I think I'll use the MK for my mech. Seeing it's my first I want to treat her right. That and my RBA choice was overly ambitious and I predict it's going to be hungry. I suppose I'll purchase something smaller. Maybe a TOBH.

I've heard that too about the 26650 mech. More portable is of interest to me as well. The selection is still sparse, the CHI YOU looks nice but the chrome is not for me. I've seen other finishes though. I'm sure more selection will come.
