I was using the IMR with an SVD but I feel as though MNKE have a better standing for mech. I've looked at a few benchmarks but there are so many factors involved pertaining to the build, age of batt or even charger and charging practice and so on - which makes me doubt the valitity of the tests. I think I'll use the MK for my mech. Seeing it's my first I want to treat her right. That and my rba choice was overly ambitious and I predict it's going to be hungry. I suppose I'll purchase something smaller. Maybe a TOBH.

I've heard that too about the 26650 mech. More portable is of interest to me as well. The selection is still sparse, the CHI YOU looks nice but the chrome is not for me. I've seen other finishes though. I'm sure more selection will come.

I'm still using my old Patriot, but I've been thinking of picking up a Magma just to get a little more enjoyment before having to break out the bottle again.

As for 26650 mods, it's a clone, but I've been seriously considering grabbing the tree of life style one at fasttech and slapping a nemesis magnet kit in it instead of the spring. It's the only one I've seen that I half way like the looks of, and I figure if it's no good I'm not out much. I'd go for one of the big stingray clones if I didn't think they looked awful, or were made of copper which I would destroy.

Ok when you look at mod and it say it takes a 18650 bat. Which 18650 bat to buy.
I see a lot of different 18650 bat on the market.

AW, Panasonic, Sony, Efest ... buy a big name and make sure it's high drain lMR, LiMn and/or hybrid. Buy nothing that ends in Fire (i.e. Trustfire, UltraFire).

Here's a chart that shows power drain ratings.

I have been a staunch believer in AW IMR batts for years but recently I tried the Sony VTC5 and is my battery of choice. Imo it preforms much better than others when using a sub-ohm RBA.

I don't quite get the post design on the Magma. I'll have read up.

Try the clone! Why not. The magnet would be the change to make to it undoubtedly. The stingray is of no interest to me as well. No matter what finish. Some of those mech's are like waring a shirt with a massive logo and then having light up. I have a copper mod and am worried about that.

I agree, the Sony VTC5 18650 30Amp High Drain Rechargable Battery 2600mAh is the best IMR unprotected battery. The trick is avoiding the counterfeits.

I actually prefer the LG he2/purple Efest 2500 mAh (20a). Better discharge curve than the vtc5. Lower amp limit, but 20a is plenty

Really. Hm well that's something to think about. It's amazing the decision making for the battery alone. I'm sure the few discussed here are all well beyond most of our needs in terms of discharge, so it's the finer details of the handling with in the specifics that's of interest. I'll probably will just by one of each ;)

As for counterfeits. The sony's Ive seen with the white sticker..are those legit? Can somebody that has one confirm if they look like this?
