Good GRIEF, Jadc!!! Sounds like the philosophy at the last company I worked for ... and then LEFT because of lousy, self-serving actions like this: United Healthcare ... blech! I'm so sorry!

The most funniest thing is they are offering the actual smokers and maybe us e-smokers here NHS help to quit ???! lol First of all when that e-mail came round I had to reply to the HR lady with this response.....

"It’s just the sentences within these smoking e-mails such as “Further to the recent changes and reminders with regards to the no smoking on company property (including electronic cigarettes) “suggests that e-cigarettes are being classed as smoking but they should be promoted as an aid, we should be patted on the back for being smoke free and going down the route of quitting which we are doing.

I have been 382 days cigarette (Smoke) free and counting

Kind Regards"

And since that she spoke with me and apologized saying I didn't know what they was and I am sorry for that but good e-mail.....

Bloody Hell sure I would get better sense from a bunch of monkeys

I used to go out and smoke on the loading dock of a large insurance company with an animal spokesman who made their employees walk just off the property to smoke. There was a picnic table and no protection from the cold or rain. Due to employee protest, they eventually built a metal roofed break area for smokers right out side the cafeteria. Negotiation pays off.

I was a Tech Rep for a national electronic printing products company. I spent lots of time in computer rooms and print shops. Once, I was smoking on the loading dock of a large building and a security guard came out and asked me not to stand in front of the security camera while I was doing it! My image was there on the screen in full color for everyone who walked by. So, I learned where the cameras were and had no future issues with security.

Just be thankful you don't have the job I used to have. Basically entered a different war zone every day and each place was tobacco free and would not allow PVs because the "residents" would use them for "purposes unintended."

Practically every time we'd walk through the gates of these places, we were searched (not the TSB type wanna-be searches either) and then walked into places where all hell was breaking loose and people were often times being killed, mutilated or maimed. A PV wouldn't be very easy to use wearing riot gear anyway...and forget about "stealth vaping." Get caught with something like that and you'd be facing charges yourself.

I suppose what I'm saying is, I feel for ya' but look on the bright side...it COULD be worse. I don't typically like to talk about that stuff much, but I thought it might help you swallow what is put before you at your work situation. Hit 'em with the facts, but whatever decision they make...just remember...it could be worse.

Mad respect and admiration going out to the soldiers fighting abroad who deal with things even worse than what I listed! You are in my thoughts and prayers!!!
