4Bucks, I'd also have a medical checkup for those chest pains and lung symptoms if changing to vaping doesn't clear them up quickly. There are expectorants to help get that stuff out of your system. Don't expect vaping to clear up a medical problem. Your doctor will probably approve of Ecigs as a substitute for tobacco. Mine did.

Welcome to ecigs. :)

When we first started I bought us 2 eGo kits and just a couple of spare atties and juice. You should order either an ego or the riva kit everyone is talking about, about 3-5 atties, spare cartridges, and do atleast two different Mg juices. Get yourself a bit of variety on the juices because it may sound good, but you may not be crazy about it. I have heard a lot of good things about pure cig with menthol, just make sure you kick it with an extra hit of flavor. Go for 5ml at first and get about 4-5. Just make sure you have the money to re-order soon. A person can vape 60 ml a month or more.
if you get the ego tank set then you wont have to worry about fluval, if you just get the atomizers and cartridges, then you will need to buy some fluval. If you don't get the tank you can also try cartomizers. They are the way I like going, but I am working through what cartomizers work the best. :)

I know your head is probably spinning from all the information. Just remember to do your research, and research some more. The right vendor and juices will take time as well to find as said before, we all have different tastes.

I smoked for 28 years and have quit many times before with gum, patches, and meds. I always needed a week or two to quit smoking. When my egos arrived in the mail on dec 6th, I had no problem quitting and haven't smoked an analog since.

Here's my favorite shopping list:

Riva 510 $34 : Electronic Cigarette - Starter Kits - Riva 510
eGo-T atomizer $14 : Electronic Cigarette - Atomizers & Cones - Joye eGo - T
eGo-T tanks $6 : Electronic Cigarette - Cartridges - Joye eGo - T
and asst juices :
menthol blend (PG) 30ml @24mg $14 E Liquid - E Liquid 5ML - PG - Tobaccos
4 other flavors of your choosing (PG) 5ml bottles ($3 each) $12 E Liquid - E Liquid 5ML - PG - Others

Total cost:$70 ...and I'm pretty sure shipping is $2.99

All the parts are interchangeable so with this set up you can try dripping, cartridges, or the new "tank system" that everybody is raving about.

The Riva 510 batteries will last a good 6 hours between charges, the kit comes with 2 batteries, two atomizers, 5 pre-filled cartridges. I've added the eGo-T atomizer and tanks upgrade so you can do that too. Here's a video about the new tank system:

YouTube - eGo-T Tank System Review

Good Luck! and Welcome to the forum.

ps: fyi, the Riva 510 is a knock off of the eGo, it's just as good - just less expensive by $10.

I rarely agree with that kind of package to start. BUT, OP sounds like an over achiever from birth..SO I gotta +1 on that recommendation. Im thinking you'll be going bigger, and better, and quick. And Get 24 mg e- liquid, and a bottle or 2 of 36mg if they have it.

It will work..and don't even ask me why/how it works. I tried it with the 'idea' that this would be cool for a way to get my nicotine fix without smoking analogs in my new car. But without even meaning to I quit analogs in a very short time and don't even think about them now. I smoked for decades, and always had a love/hate relationship with cigarettes, they were my best friend, always there when I was stressed, sad, happy, you name it, but I always hated the cost, the odor, the potential health effects. I tried patches, gum, inhalers, hypnosis, and the WORST thing I ever tried was Chantix, OMG it made me nutty. When I ordered my first e-cig I was 100% convinced that I would continue smoking analogs, but quitting them just came naturally.

Even with a throat hit, you don't (or at least I don't) get the instant fix you do from a cigarette when you haven't had one for awhile, but that just doesn't seem to be an issue; in fact I don't even think about it unless I see someone mention it on the forum.

Good luck! You're gonna love how much better you feel after a few weeks.

i just found half a newport behind my monitor.I smoked it and got that "high" you get when not having smoked a cigarette in a while.

Will an e-cig give me this effect?

No, it's not going to give that same effect. A lot of the cigarette high comes from the thousands of other chemicals in cigarettes. It will give you a pure nicotine high though, which feels a lot like a caffeine rush.

If you make the switch youll be so happy you did..I am only 3 days in and while I am getting a little overhwelmded / frustrated at all the options..I do understand its all about find your personal "vaping style"
Also good advice that was given to me was to vape BEFORE you have a craving for an analog in the begining..I stopped the analogs the first time I vaped and am soo happy to already dtart feeling less yucky (smelly, phlemy etc etc)
Good luck and Happy vaping everyone :)

That sounds like it should work for you. if not...

I might suggest trying a stronger nic level if you were smoking a PaD newports half filters...

And if for some crazy reason the throat hit isn't strong enough for you, buy yourself a bottle of everclear. and put a few drops of it in your juice.

Hahaha, now i have an excuse to buy a bottle.

Anyway, thanks everybody for giving your opinions, help, recommendations, etc.I'm getting a check soon and with that i shall buy the riva 510 starter kit and a few different bottles of 24mg juice.
