Kinda cheated, as I had a chest infection and physically could not smoke, so thought, what the hell, I have not had a real cig for 10 days, so why not give up and turn to e-cigs.

But I know NOTHING. All I know is, that I used to smoke Marbro Lights. So am looking to purchase something that can simulate the throat hit that the lights give me.

I also thought, why not try doing it without any Nicotine at all. Can I do that ? Do you still get the same hit (on the throat) without nicotine.

I drive 1.5 hours to work (there and back) every day. So is there a product out there, where I could smoke the equivalent of 8 cigs (what I would smoke in 1.5 hours) without having to replace anything.
I would settle for 6 at the lowest). Thus I am asking for a product recommendation. Money no object really.

I know I ask a lot, but as said I am a COMPLETE NEWBIE to it all.

Hope I meet some new friends on here.

Welcome KC104,

I'm a newbie also, only about 2 weeks into this.

The throat hit (TH) of a PV is not like a cigarette.

You can get ejuice without nicotine.

Bigger battery equals longer times between charges (normally).

I would highly suggest combing through the threads in the new member section. Heck, go through all the threads. You are going to find a ton of advice and information.

Welcome to ECF, you will get lots of advice but I will get you started so you can do some research and see what you like. I would suggest a Joye eGo with mega cartomizers, and maybe an eGo pass through with car adapter to go with it. Be sure to order a few different flavors in small bottles to see what you like, don't just stick with tobacco flavors, try some sweet flavors and others that catch your eye, you will be surprised at what you like. Many of us started out thinking we needed tobacco flavors to get started, including myself when in fact I like fruit and sweet flavors and don't like tobacco flavors at all. Don't order any large size bottles until you know what you like.

Why this product, if you don't mind me asking. Is that a value for money choice ? I am looking for a very good quality product. Price is not of concern.

Am I understanding you here = are you saying if I go for a juice with 0 nicotine, then the throat hit is less, or is it just this particular product.

Thanks for the recommendation, checking out the product now.

Hello and welcome to ECF. If you smoke 8 in 1.5 hours, I would say you are a pretty heavy smoker. I would suggest going with an eGo or Riva starter kit for battery life as well as cartomizers. The Riva is a little cheaper for basicly the same thing. They don't look like cigarettes, but they will last much longer as you would more than like be burning through standard cig type batteries like crazy.

You can definitely buy 0 nicotene. Haven't ever tried it so I can't comment on how much it lessens the throat hit, but it probably will have some effect. I know more PG than VG based liquids give more throat hit and more VG than PG based liquids give more vapor.

For your commute definitely consider a pass through which doesn't use any batteries. You are connected to your choice of power sources (usb, car cigarette lighter or wall) with a cord so you don't have a "lighted" end. I also think the higher voltage they operate at give a much better throat hit and vapor.

I chose the KR808D-1 (which is the V2cigs.com model and also the Vapor King model through Vapor 4 life) and a pass through. I ordered through V2cigs.com, but they seem to be having trouble keeping things in stock. There website is great though with a lot of detailed information. I like the XL batteries, but I am a previous 120 smoker and actually like the longer length and the additional battery life. At first, I liked the automatic batteries and quickly switched to prefer the manual batteries. You have to push a conveniently located button for 1-2 seconds then continue to push and take a vape. With the automatic batteries you are suppose to take a primer puff then a regular one. I think the manual batteries give more vapor and more flavor.

Since Marlboro is such a popular brand you will probably be able to match it and get tons of suggestions from former Marlboro smokers. I quickly decided I didn't want to achieve a taste similar to tobacco and love butterscotch and cinnamon roll (from V4L WOW cartomizers). V4L ships very quickly. I ordered on a weekend and the order was in my mailbox on Wednesday. Always check for coupon codes before ordering from anywhere. V4L has a smilin coupon code for 10%. V2cigs has a coupon code for thanko'leary for 15% off starter kits.

Good luck. I have been very happy making the switch. I hope I am able to get down to 0 nicotene. Some might say why start anything since you have already "quit", but I know I quit many times, only to start again and feel that if I had went with an e-cig with 0 nicotene it would have worked.

Hi kc194, I'm new to this e-cig stuff too (16 days with no analogs, picking up the lingo too). I can relate to your problem as I smoke a lot driving to customers. First week I refilled the 510 cart while driving and quickly figured out that was a bad idea. My current solution is a big ego battery with large cylinder atty and cart. Works great so far but like I said, I'm a noob.

Thank you all so much for replying so quickly. Let me address some points here.

(1) Why start if I have stopped - ha, I stopped because I am ill. As soon as I return to my car journeys, I am going to want something in my hand to smoke.

(2) Just had a look at some utube reviews of that Joye eGo - it looks really good, with lots of vaper produced.

(3) I live in the UK. Do they sell that over here ?

(4) is everything you need supplied in that starter kit ?

(5) with the Joye eGo - how many cigs can you smoke in one go. For example, could one say that if fully charged you could smoke the equivalent of 20 cigs before you had to change the filter ...

Thanks for that info Irishgirl

Liberty Flights is based in the UK and they have the best deals I can find. They also have a forum on their site. Alot of people will suggest the eGo, I personally, love my Riva. I have both, but I just prefer the Riva, slightly larger battery capacity and I like the button more. The eGo does feel more "solid" in the hand, but I like the draw of the Riva better. They are basically the same if you get a 510 model.

Additionally, I have been pleased with the customer service I have received. They are also a registered supplier and have a forum on ECF.

Hi - I'm new too but I've read this forum a lot. A lot of people start with a small cigarette look/shape PV but many get dissatisfied with that after a short time and end up getting something larger and eventually end up with an Ego or Riva. So a lot of people here suggest newbies go straight to a Riva or Ego.

I recommend you read the sticky threads at the top of the new Members section, especially the Library multi-part guide - I know Part 4 starts discussing specific PVs that are decent/popular with various size categories.

I recommend whatever you get, get something that has a PCC available for it (a case you can charge overnight and then standalone it will then recharge your batteries during the day when you are out). Most people on this forum recommend manual batteries (you press a small button for each drag) because you have more control over your drag and they won't turn on accidentally like the automatic batteries do. So unless you have some overwhelming reason you need to vape handsfree (like two-handed work or a disability) look for a model that has manual batteries available.

I started with a small one but as the novelty wears off and I grow used to the feel of breathing vapor, I do get a bit frustrated when it's not performing optimally - either cartridge getting a bit drier or battery getting weaker when closer to needed a recharge. So I can understand how the escalation of PV size occurs.

So read the stickies especially the library guide and videos too. And there are multiple review videos for lots of models on Youtube.

Re TH - it depends on 3 factors (besides how much vapor your PV puts out). The base - PG (more TH) vs VG (more vapor), flavor components, nicotine level. As an extreme example, a cinnamon flavor would probably have great throat hit even in full VG with 0 nicotine. A totally gorgeous Peach flavor I got had almost no TH with my normal nicotine level and a mostly PG base. There are definitely juices around that are said to give great TH even in full VG so I think you'll be able to find TH.

LOL, I don't need to answer this one, but the perfunctory, "If you can quit smoking without vaping, that's the ideal thing to do." That being said, if you can't quit, this is a great alternative.

(2) Just had a look at some utube reviews of that Joye eGo - it looks really good, with lots of vaper produced.

The eGo is a solid PV, you can progress to mods after trying vaping out if it doesn't fit your vaping needs. The eGo/Riva is a good kit to start with.

(3) I live in the UK. Do they sell that over here ?
Yes

(4) is everything you need supplied in that starter kit ?
Everything you need to start is there, but I suggest buying cartos and a drip tip as well, so you can determine what way you like to vape---and JUICE, you must buy at least 30ml of juice (samplers) to find out what flavors you like and so that you have plenty when you begin vaping.

(5) with the Joye eGo - how many cigs can you smoke in one go. For example, could one say that if fully charged you could smoke the equivalent of 20 cigs before you had to change the filter ...
If you use cartridges you will probably find yourself filling a cartridge and then "topping off the cart." Standard cartomizers hold about the equivalent to half a pack. The beauty of vaping is that you can vape as long as you wish or just a couple puffs--unlike cigarettes you can take it or leave it when you wish, you're not limited to the size of the cigarette remaining.
