In regards to the wicks in the CE4, the ones I purchased have oil-sorbent cotton wicks, would this be "safer" than the other type? Can't remember what its called, mesh I think?

Genoxy, CE4 clearomizers have silica wicks.

If you want to replace them with cotton wicks, here's TomCatt's Wiki page:

MyWikkaSite: Cotton Wick Wiki

And if you want to know more about wick replacement materials, visit our Modders forum. People are experimenting with stainless steel mesh, hemp, bamboo, and other materials.

Damn that would mean that I've been ingesting those nasty metal fragments Everytime I ate TOAST from my toaster, or when I boiled a cup of coffee, oh no please help me, lmao.

Just imagine what happens when you pop something in the oven for an hour or two! Maybe BBQ is dangerous as well?!?!? I always wondered why baked goods tasted better after I scraped all the nano particles off it... :p

Well they replied pretty fast, they said they have COTTON wicks... still BS?

Maybe they have changed them over or get from a different supplier?

That is VERY peculiar! I've NEVER heard of a company stuffing cotton in those at the factory. It burns too easy when it gets dry. The silica (which it probably really is) doesn't even start to melt until you are over 1000 degrees... maybe higher? All I know is it takes a heaten and keeps on wickin. ;)

Yeah I replied again asking if they were 100% sure it was cotton, they said they would double check and get back to me.

Just got another email and they said it "appears" to be cotton but they can't be 100% as the manufacturers specs doesn't detail it.

I call BS... But they offered me a free one with my next order so I'm happy... They sell them for $7.49 each which sounds a bit expensive

What are the benefits of cotton as opposed to silica wicks?

Katya nailed it for the most part.

The biggest reason I think folks like to experiment with silica alternatives? Because silica wick is relatively expensive! It's not uncommon to see it sold for around $1 a foot/$3 a meter. Imagine if you could buy a 100m spool of some natural twine, yarn or the like for the same price?

Hahahhah! I particularly like this one:

CASAA’s FDA testimony re “3rd Party Governance” | Anti-THR Lie of the Day

Quote:

"In “response” to a report by the Institute of Medicine, the US FDA recently held hearings about whether to try to impose “third-party governance” of research. (The scare quotes refer to the fact that the IOM report was conducted at the behest of FDA, so this is really a “response” to their own initiative.)"

So the government is funding "independent" research to corroborate their own research?

In Australia they have passed laws that all cigarette packaging has to be plain except for the brand name in plain font and massive warnings all over the pack, I kept smoking but have to be honest, the warning labels are getting to me...

Yet it probably only made a handful of people stop so the billions of dollars and year of planning man hours put behind that scheme could probably have been better spent elsewhere, maybe even in cancer research...

Not to mention the tobacco companies are still fighting the laws and if they win our government will be require to pay billions in compensation for changing it back again, ridiculous...

Just ban the damn things and be done with it!
