Hello all I am a new user to the forum and haven't noticed anyone with my own reasoning for going to vapeing so thought I would explain them.

Through a series of athletic accidents I broke my body. Two herniated discs in my neck which left me unable to do much past sit and walk at the best of times. After 15 years of this pain ridden sedentary life the inevitable happened. Yeah, 40+ and overweight for a female my age. In those years I acquired poor eating habits and even poorer outlook and self image. Last week was my fourty second birthday and I decided I was going to make a positive change in my life.

I got a weight councilor through a well known weight loss company, I got a fitness trainer and a gym, and I bought my first APV. A cute little sidewinder mini with a cartomizer on it.

How does the vape help you ask? SWEET SWEET SWEET!!! I was a soda fiend. Loved the stuff. Even the diet soda isn't as good for me as water is. I can vape sweet flavors, without Nic, which curb my desire for the taste and damn if its not working.

So, my life choice is a healthy one, as all of us here are, it just didnt involve cigarettes.

Can we still be friends?

Green!

Welcome you have come to the right place to make great new friends, and learn lots of stuff. Alot of people are going to vaping now because of the great flavors they are finding and it does curb your appetite. I am still using analogs but I am striving to get off of them. I am doing better but it is hard. I did notice the sweet flavors curb your appetite and this week I have been forgetting to eat breakfast and lunch. lol I remember after I have been up for almost 10 hours that I didn't eat. I love this and I can't have sodas as they don't agree with me but I can vape one. Will have to check into that.

I use vaping for anger management as well as not smoking a real cigarette. I figured if I have the PV in my mouth and I am sucking in and counting to 10, I can't scream. The first puff is good, so I do another. And before long I am sitting there vaping, quietly contemplating the ignorance that has just befell me. Then walk away.

P.S. I have noticed that my sugary drink consumption is down to 1-2 a month now since I started vaping pineapple and coconut, 4 months ago :)

Congrats to you!!! I cut my sodas way back, only rarely will I have one if I can find it made with cane sugar. Soda vaps have so far been my favorites, though. I boggle at the fact that they actually feel BUBBLY.

Root beer from Mt Baker Vapor is my top, but it needs to be in a carto or a glass tank as the licorice reacts poorly with plastic. I also enjoyed the cherry cola I got when I first started vaping... Mt Dew and cola flavors are easy to come by, and cream soda and ginger ale are pretty common too. I realized over the weekend that I would LOVE to find a cherry 7up vape somewhere.

Hi Green and welcome to ECF. Yes we are friends :D I have a sis in law (never smoked) that has a very serious weight issue which has compounded other health related issues- advanced rheumatoid arthritis. I won't mention her weight but the Dr. labelled her as obese. Couldn't move around and in constant pain and had tried all types of weight loss progs. I had her begin vaping 0/ zero Nic at Christmas- at this time she has lost 55 lbs and is continuing to slowly lose weight. She's an emotional eater so now whenever she gets "bent of shape" she merely picks up her PV and vapes. Sadly her Dr. doesn't believe in vaping but he has admitted that he's quite pleased and impressed with her weight loss. She is now able to go for walks and is in far less pain and is slowly becoming the happy and humerous person we all know. Just an amazing transformation...her Common Law BF is a bonehead and doesn't think vaping has anything to do with her weight loss.
Here's hoping you have the same results.

Green...I am so happy for You !!!
These are wonderful stories- and to see that Vaping is not just about 'getting nic' as most people view it- is inspiring.
While it is true that Vaping has happily changed the life of many of us former smokers, I always knew that there are other untapped potentials for Vaping, as you, and Vapooreyeser's sis are demonstrating now.
I think their are many other potentials too...if Vaping is given the chance to develop !

These are Great...keep up the good work !
Best to You !

Welcome, I have only heard of one other person in my personal life who picked up vaping that wasn't a smoker and he did it because of the flavor and it turned out he liked the nicotine. By the way it is cool to see someone else from Buffalo, there are a few people from western NY around on the forum it's always to see how locals are doing it to and not just some people around the world. Good Luck.

Hiya Ibook! Tonawanda here and boy was I suprized when Saw how many vape shops were in our area. I have yet to make it down hertel to the vapor lounge but stopped by the two vape shops yesterday to get a feel for the places. Both of the places were packed to bursting at 11am on a week day. Startled the heck out of me noone was at work and few, if any, appeared to be uni students. Still amazing to me.

As a former soda junkie myself, a habit I greatly reduced before I started vaping I do find the soda flavored juices very satisfying, although when I was drinking my soda pepsi was the norm, I do find not only the colas very good but also root beer dr pepper even ginger ale enjoyable. I have seen sarsaparilla and i think birch beer but haven't tried them yet.

Firstly, let me say I'm glad you're taking the reins in hand to take charge of your life and make positive steps forward. You WILL feel the results after a short bit of time, and that will help make it easier and give you even more confidence.

I found this interesting as a soda junkie myself, perhaps I'll have to try out some of these soda flavored juices and see if it does the same thing for me so I can kill two birds with one stone by cutting back or eliminating the analog cigs as well as my soda intake.

Keep up the good work, you can do it! Vaping seems to have more potential than I realized, so glad I found this forum. It's even temporarily reducing my desire to eliminate irritating meatbags. Let us hope that's not permanent.
