I've observed various threads being moved here and there shortly after being posted. I've posted stuff in specific locations and waited for ever for an answer, if at all. Kinda afraid to post anything without looking for a specific section. So,my question is: What is considered General vaping Discussion. Not trying to make wise, but if you have a question you need answered ASAP, I would think that more exposure would render more responses. I gotta wonder how many folks really monitor the more remote categories.

Don't get me wrong...I love ECF, and in my early days, pulled me through a couple of tough spots.

im not quite sure either, i normally frequent the mech/vv/coil/rda subforums though and i guess if you have a specific question about certain models/builds it would be better to post in that section. You can also read through the threads/titles and end up finding answers to your questions in the specific forum related to a question. Some people dont really read before they ask their questions and technically most questions are just questions that have been answered before. I'm not going to lie but sometimes when i answer the questions in general chat, i get the answer I reply with from using the Search The Forum box on the upper right hand corner

Sad truth is a lot of people post the question here even if it obviously belongs elsewhere to get a fast answer. Or any answer for that matter. The big no no is to cross post by putting your question in two places. Other times it's hard to figure out just where a post should go. Often a question will be left here for a bit until some answers roll in and then it will be moved to it "proper" forum. LOL, how's that for an answer?

My point exactly...if they get an answer. I assume people, like myself use ECF for problems they have encountered. If you have a problem, I don't see posting it in an obscure location as being a viable option. Again, with all due respect to ECF and our administrators.

i dont see most other sections as 'obscure', the people are who more into mech mods and know about mech mods, usually check the mech mod section more and dont do general chat. So it would be more wise to go to the mech mod subforum to ask specific questions on mech mods. Same as RDA forum, Variable Voltage Forum etc... You may get a general answer to your question here, but usually more detailed answer in the specific question from what I've found.

I agree, there are definite locations like on builds that likely would be viewed regularly..like in search for the perfect build. Some of the questions I've seen moved were from newbies that need help. I was working with one yesterday from the UK to help resolve a flooding issue on his Nautilus Mini. Boom, this morning he's gone out of General and moved to Clearo's. After the move, I noted one last post to his issue. Likely to die in ECF land.

Which is why posting it here for a quick fix and then having it moved for a more in depth discussion is sort of the norm. There really is a line but it takes a while to figure out where it is.

nvadasz, if you have a question, can't find the answer and really aren't sure exactly where to post it, then post it here. State you weren't sure and that it's okay by you to move it to a more appropriate place if the mods see fit. No harm, no foul. Happens all the time.

Hi nvasdasz
We normally move threads if they clearly belong in another forum.
For example, Questions such as How much flavor percentage should i put in the juice I am making... obviously belong in DIY, which is frequented by users who tend to DIY their juices.
Questions that are about a specific Mod, well, Most people do not own that mod....so, we may move that to APV.

General Vaping discussion is more about things relating to vaping, not specific to a device, or a specific aspect of vaping.
To be in General Vaping
It definitely needs to be related to Vaping
Shouldnt be related to a specific niche within vaping (such as DIY) Or a specific device/ Juice...etc
also, What is the amperage of my namebrand battery
or of course, things like... i like cheese (Not related to vaping)
dont belong in general.

Stuff such as, I get a dry throat because of vaping.
or... which device should I get
or, vaping is banned at my workplace
or what should I do when ~
Or, The cops stopped me today because of my vape
could go here

Just very general stuff about vaping. Stay away from Specifics.

Main point here, Is get a look around at some of the other forums, and if you think it fits better in one of the other forums, place it there.
Dont dump your stuff in General ONLY to get a quick answer. “Patience, grasshopper, Good things come to those who wait."
However, if you place it in the wrong area in error, and we feel its better suited in an area that is more frequented by people who know more about that specific aspect... than we will move it for you.

Hope this helps

P.S. I debated moving this to Site feedback and help, But wouldnt that be ironic lol.

Frankly, I don't ask too many questions anymore only because I use the search box with great success usually. I've told everyone I know who vapes about ECF and enjoy reading/answering the posts. Most of all, I enjoy sharing what I know and have experienced. Judging by the number of "Likes" I've gotten, others find my posts useful as well. Thanks for being here ECF

If it's in any way related to vaping, I just post it here. Let the mods do the work if they want it moved. This is the only place where it will be answered sometime in the same month you asked the question.

Have to agree.
There area so many sub forums here even the mods have problems deciding where to put threads.
I can barely keep up with the new sub-sub forums that pop up every few weeks.
Navigating this place is a nightmare for newbies, for sure.
Simplification when ECF is moved to the new software would be awesome.

Without all of the specialty niches on the site, posts would probably be off the first page of the 'General Vaping Discussion' in less than an hour. That wouldn't be very useful/helpful to most members. Just my :2c:.

And that is the reason that the other forums / subforums were created. I peruse the latest posts to see where I may or may not be able to answer questions - I hardly ever go past the 5th page and there are many posts that disappear into the multitude of other posts before a viable answer is received. If we only had one forum then that would be the norm - no answers...

Sometimes I find my post to get the quickest answers here before they are moved to the sub-forums. You will notice a lot of times, posts don't get a single other reply after being buried in a section with far less traffic.

True, we sometimes "mis-move" something.

The same forum structure will exist on the new forum so we don't "lose" anything. Folks might get upset if their threads went totally missing. Also, there are many many members who know where everything "they need" is located.

We do hope everyone is looking forward to the big "move" as much as the staff is. There are so many "enhancements" in the newer software it's unreal. Like the old saying, "We're gonna treat you so many ways, you gotta like one of 'em!"

Really think about it. Location is actually important. More so than you might think.
Answers - $1
Answers with thought - $5
Correct thoughtful Answers - $10

That is how things work. If you want Quick Answers post in the wide open and take what you get.........hoping it is correct.
Or, post in a sub group in hopes of a better chance at good answers.
Or even better, post in a specific related sub forum where people that constantly tinker with those items hang out and are most likely to give good solid advice.

I see threads all the time in the general area, where the poster is asking for help, and people are giving advice that is so incorrect it gets scary. Often the threads are riddled with contradictory advice from dozens of different skill level vapors and it becomes impossible to know who is correct.
Newer vapors are not sure who to believe and Post count/Join dates are not the best indicators.
Some of us post to much and others rarely post.
Some Newer members are long time Vapors that have just decided to join the community.

General is just that and best used for Social Vaping commentary and community updates.
