So I just started about 1 week ago with my PV. I got a Joye Ego 950MhA battery one. Of course is just like out of the box no mods on it. In the future I would like to do some mods. The thing is I'm so confused because PV have become something so much more than just a little stick where you put liquid in it. Now you have cartomizer which I know what they are, and all of this things. So I guess my question is what are the top used mods out there. I don't care about the size of my PV or weight, I just want the most used mods, so I can start researching from there, and keep expanding my knowledge.

Another quick question. Cartomizer versus Atty, what do you guys think is better? From what I have read cartomizer is cartridge and atty together and they are both disposable, but my question is can you refill them? And are they more expensive? Thanks for all the help and forgive me for all the questions, I have looked all day in the forum in mods, but there are so many posts and stuff, I can't really find anything that will help me from point one.

Bandu out! :vapor:

You should start with a boxmod. I have a 5volt foxybox but he also makes variable voltage and 3.7 devices. People like atomizers for dripping juice and it tastes a little better but cartos are easier and disposable so you dont have to be ultra careful or be too mad if you make a few mistakes. When researching mods, you should research batteries too. Most people like the 18650 mods cause they last forever. I like my 14500 mod, the batteries last long enuf and I have spares. good luck, I know I didnt answer everything. I'm no expert either but yea

Madvapes.com has some really nice box mods anywhere from 3.7 volt to 5v to variable voltage. They are very cheap too. You can't beat dripping with a atomizer if you have the right set-up to go with it. With cartomizers your flavor is muted and depending on what carto you use you might get a nasty polyfill/metal taste. They also have ce2s wich you can get from gotvapes.com.

Modified Electronic Cigarettes and their types

There are 4 main types of devices

1. battery powered , no regulation ( no voltage control , power to the atomizer follows the battery voltage )
2. Fixed Regulated ( they are a preset voltage output )
3. Switched regulated ( they have several preset voltages that are selectable )
4. Variable regulated ( they are continuously variable within a range of voltages )

Advantages / disadvantages

A . Battery powered
Advantages: No circuitry to fail ,
Disadvantages : No load regulation , the voltage will droop with the battery life and you will loose power and vapor , No protection circuitry

B. Fixed regulation :
Advantages : Regulated output voltage , consistent vaping voltage over the life of the battery
Disadvantages : No control over the voltage

C. Switched regulation
Advantages : Regulated output voltage , switchable voltage values
disadvantages : values are fixed and can not be adjusted

D. Variable regulation:
i. advantages : Complete control over the output voltage to the atomizer
ii. disadvantages : you will fiddle with the voltage until you find the spot you like .

PS: not all regulators are created equal , most have built in protection circuitry but not all so ask the manufacturer.

Types of regulators : there are 2 main types of regulators

Linear / analog types , these types of regulators drop voltage across them to control the output voltage to the load (i.e. Atomizer or cartomizer ) they require a certain amount of minimum voltage across them to operate ( LDO types requires less voltage drop across them ).
PWM or ( pulse width modulated ) this type of regulator uses pulses of voltage switching on and off to charge a capacitor and regulate the voltage output , there are 2 types of basic PWM regulators A. Buck and B. Boost , a buck regulator drops the voltage down and Boost reg. Boosts the voltage ( there is another type that does both )

There are advantages and disadvantages to each type BUT any regulated device will control the voltage and keep it stable throughout the battery charge time .
Many people have found that uncontrolled voltage to an atomizer can cause them to open up and go bad , or cause the flavor and temperature of the juice to taste burnt or too hot for the vapor .

The gold standard for mods is still the Silver Bullet. Well designed and well built, it is simplistic and idiot proof. You push the button and it supplies power.

One isn't better than the other, they are just different. As far as I know there is no law that says you can't enjoy both.
