My first car was a '56 red Chevy convertible. My Dad was a car buff and a friend was selling so we got a great deal. Lawdy, if I had that car today it would be worth more than my IRA!

1978 Black on black Camaro 305. Rebuilt the engine from the ground up, had to drop a 350 turbo trans in it because it burned out 2 305, and a 350 trans. Paid 800 for the car and put a couple grand in to it. Best times in that car, I could kill the lights and just sit there with out most people seeing me, they knew I was coming when I hit the gas and the car growled.

Man some of you had sick first cars. A 67 GTO for first car is sick. I would spent so much on tickets for speeding...

I worked for 2 summers shoveling cow crap and mowing lawns for that car lol!! I also had to do some work on it as well but thanks to my Uncle he really showed me the value of working on your own car as well as taking care of it. Traits i will pas onto my son.

The first car I ever owned was a '72 MGB that mom bought when I was 14. I got the Chilton's for it & worked on it for a year & a half before I ever got to drive it . I REALLY LOVED that car, his name was Phillip & was British Racing Green & a Major PITA ! The AAA guys knew me by name they had to come & save us so many times ! For some reason I can not remember what happened to that car ? I know I almost total'ed it 2 different times & the insurance kept rebuilding it :D

My first car owned (given to me at 16 by grandparents) was a 63 Impala, but the first car I bought was a Lincoln Towncar (used)...
i also had a Lincoln Town Car. Them cars are probably the most comfortable to drive in. When the air bags took a crap i ended up swapping them out with regular spring shocks. That car was never the same after that:(

Well, what about my 1973 Ford Pinto? Did that not impress you? And no tickets since it was not able to get up to the speed limit!!:p
My buddy had a pinto in the early 1990's. Not sure what year it was but the color was brown and orange. LOL Lots of fun times in that car!:D

Close friend of mine drove a 71 white Maverick for a long time. Think he put almost 400k on that motor and trans until it died/

They might have been fun SLOW times....but not fun FAST times. You never heard the word FAST associated with a Pinto.
(Unless they were referring to the amount of time it took for the rust to spread.)

My very 1st car was a 1982 Chevy Camaro. It was baby blue with baby pink pin-striping that I hated soooo much!
My favorite story was when I went to the parts store and told them that I needed some parts for a 4-cylinder the guys didn't believe me. They thought I was just a dumb girl and that I didn't know what I was talking about. I said I swear to god that it's a factory 4 cylinder so many times. So when they still couldn't get me to change my story, they looked at me like I was ......ed but they finally looked it up. After finding that there was in fact such a thing as a 4-cyl Camaro, all four of them had to leave the store to come out and see it for themselves. I even got a discount on my parts as an apology for making me repeat myself 20 times LOL

Sounds like when I went in to get a new carb for my camaro. Walked in to buy a Quad barrel carb. Told the guy I was replacing a single barrel like this single.jpg. He started to tell me there was no such thing. We walked to my car and he looked at it and about pooped himself. Goes to show how much some of those people know about cars.

Why is it when a woman walks into an auto parts or home improvement store, all the male employees assume she has no idea what she's talking about?
Yes guys, we do have brains. About 2 feet above where you usually focus.
Sorry for the mini-rant, pet peeve of mine...:p
