Sorry....for ME....guitar is.....Les Paul, Chet Atkins, Roy Clark....
Hey....even Charo Cougat (when she's not "koochie-koochie'-ing!!:D)
Happy (vaping) Trails!

Charo has been a world champion classical guitarist, as well as Flemenco guitar. If you love great guitar and have never seen/heard her play, you're missing an amazing talent.

Actually DID see/hear her on an old Carson show....that's why I included her on my "short list"......!!
When she puts the "dumb blonde" act aside.....it's jaw-dropping!!;)

You have to take into consideration when it was that she began her career in this country. As a minority woman with an accent, she had to adopt a persona that would get her hired.
It was when I first heard her play that my attitude and perception of who she was changed entirely.

Speaking of changed perceptions, I was never a fan of his music at all, but when he just played guitar, Glen Campbell was one of the best there was.

Remember The Champs' "Tequilla"?? One-hit wonder!!
Glen, John Denver, Jimmy Seals and Dash Crofts, IIRC......
True shame Mr. C fell on some hard times...IMHO, a bit of an egotist.....but he had a right to brag!!!:D

I like the Robby Krieger shout out. He was a great player who doesn't get a ton of credit. Always liked his riffs.
Speaking of underrated guitarists, Elliot Easton of The Cars. Very tasty, melodic playing. He was at his best on their first two albums (The Cars and Candy-O), before they went "mainstream" pop-ish and got real synth heavy.

I see some anti-country folks, but you can't discount Brad Paisley. Great guitarist with monster chops. Another country great is Brent Mason - bigtime studio/session cat in Nashville. He's played on more peoples' albums than most will ever realize.

For those who are country fans, a virtual unknown who has a lot of talent is Redd Volkaert (Austin, TX local). Dude looks like an old sailor and has fingers the size of sausages, but man, can he play! Here's a bit of Redd on YouTube (note where he breaks into the "Stairway to Heaven" solo for a brief interlude at 4:05, lol):

Has a winner been selected? 'Cause if I just waded through the muck and mire @ Facebook for nothing, that would be a real bummer. Just serves to show how good I think the Switch is- I have virtually no content or activity on Facebook since I registered. Until this contest, that is...

A guitarist some may not be too familiar with that has a unique style is Rusty Young. I first heard him at a Poco concert, ca. '71- I swore there was an organ up there somewhere, but lo and behold it was him making the sounds- with a pedal steel guitar amped through a Leslie of all things! An example is from Poco's second album, song is titled "Hurry Up". Chosen mainly because it's short, the album has other possibly more representative songs but they run longer (one is "Nobody's Fool/El Tonto de Nadie, Regresa"). Remember, no organ just Rusty and his steel guitar...
