The other GA, senator, Chambliss is retiring. The party in the majority leads these committees and decides what legislation moves forward. If the majority changes after the mid-term election, it is much less likely these regulations will ever move forward.

Well that's good news, as far as I'm concerned, I never did like Chambliss, he seems like a reactionary old so-and-so. So what party is currently in the majority? I'd definitely want to vote the other way, to shake things up in there and maybe derail or at least delay this deeming BS, until such a time as the vast majority really understand what BS it is. Because even though smokers/vapers are definitely a minority, I really do think that most Americans are aware of and concerned about gov't over-reach, and once they understand that vaping is harm reduction and that FDA is just trying to protect some really deadly products, I think they'd be on our side.

Bonus question - define the difference between a cynic and a realist.....

No difference whatever. It's completely realistic nowadays to be completely cynical about politicians padding their own pockets at the expense of their constituents, the voters and consumers, in order to profit Big Corp.

Respect.

People that fight for the lives of those who can not do so for themselves is primary to me.
And animals are, in many cases, far better than people.

But that's just me.

I completely agree. Our cat was a "rescue," someone had just dumped her out and left her to fend for herself -- at approx 2 months old. When we heard this tiny, pitiful mewing we went looking for the source, and saw this skin-and-bones-starved, scruffy little tuxedo kitten, we lost our hearts to her immediately, and she became part of our family.

But because she was never socialized properly to people at the right age, now she is terrified of EVERYONE except us -- anyone comes around, she hides, and won't come out till they're gone. Everytime that happens I get furious all over again at the evil a-holes that just abandoned her to her own devices. :grr:

Now she's a BEAUTIFUL full-grown tuxedo cat, and just our darling. Our son is grown and gone, living his own life, but she is our baby. :)

I volunteer with several animal rescue organizations.
My heartfelt thanks for that! It's people like you who got this pretty gal into my life.

Isakson is a Republican. There's going to be a runoff between Perdue and Kingston for Chambliss' former seat. Neither have answered my requests for a platform on the EPA regulations. Michelle Nunn, a Democrat, is also running for the seat, but I haven't heard back from her either.

Georgia is known for ugly and petty political races, and I expect this one to be no different. At the moment, all three are probably focusing on easily identifiable hot-button issues. Unfortunately, this isn't one of them for the time being.

Yes I posted a question on Perdue's FB page, on his stand RE: e-cigarettes, and never did get a reply. But at least the question is out there, right there on his FB page.

I live in California.
Having said that...

Darrell Issa is my representative in the House.
And he has for years now pledged to fight for us.

And Rocky Chavez is my California state representative.
He is wavering a bit, but is slowly coming around.

Now as for my Senators? Dianne Feinstein and Barbara Boxer?
Yeah, good luck with them.

I've seen no indication that they care about me, you, or anyone but their careers.
But still I continue to try, as if wasted effort is not an issue for me.

I'd like to add that it's not necessarily because of any reason that makes sense to rational people, but simply because both parties generally have nothing to offer of more substance than "the other guy sucks more." If this comes to pass, it won't be because it's a good thing for the country, it will be because it was the "other party's" idea.

I live in California.

If you ever get a chance to vote Tom McClintock for Senate, please do so..... a Club for Growth, libertarian leaning Representative from your 4th district. Speaking on the very act before us now. But from 2009. What he says makes just as much sense today as it did then....

A comparison from Andria's state - Rep. John Lewis....

I'm with you 110%, DC. I think every stray cat and dog within several miles of my home knows this is the place to go to when in need of rescuing. I swear they have a secret mark they make on the curb beside my driveway.

(and I agree with your point about animals and people)

Kent, thank you for sharing this video. It is such a rarity these days to hear a politician who not only is eloquent in his comments but also exposing very relevant principles put forth by the founders of this nation. And who just makes good, common sense. After hearing this commentary and then thinking of the drivel that comes from the Harkins, Waxman's, Pelosi's, Durbins and Boxers in our government, I just have to shake my head and wonder what has happened to this country.

Addition: I just listened to John Lewis's ahh, well, I guess it was sort-of a speech. The difference was so vast between the two, from both a content standpoint and delivery standpoint that is hard to believe they both have the same job.

Glad you liked it as much as I did. Contribution money well spent. The congresswoman (Kaptur) from my district, doesn't represent my values, so I support those who do, no matter what state, and Tom McClintock is toward the top of the list.

That is a good way to think about it, even though he is not your representative.

I'm afraid to watch it and see what he says. The amount of sheer stupidity in this state just begs belief -- and I'm FROM here! That's why I found it so surprising that Isakson is supporting us -- maybe not particularly *US* but supporting sanity vs. insanity and greed.

And the TV news in Atlanta... When all that tripe about ejuice being "dangerous" was going around, the bouffant smiling chicks were reporting it like it was Holy Writ or something.
