I tried to reply to these posts months ago but couldn't get it to post for some reason. You 100% correct about everything. There's no doubt my sister's boyfriend has MAJOR mental issues, the smoking is just a symptom of much bigger issues. He's been to (court appointed) therapy but nothing has helped. I'd personally love for the guy to smoke himself sick. He has a history of violence against women, including assaulting ME outside my own home, so it's just not worth putting myself in physical danger again, or my sister.

Some people just can't be helped, but in general trying to convert people is a thoughful, kind thing to do. I think you earn some major good karma points too since you are introducing someone to something that can potentially be life saving, and definitely life improving.

I also tried to convert an ex- boyfriend of mine and was told no, absolutely no, he'll happily smoke til he dies. He's a Kiwi and is back in New Zealand now so I'm not sure of the laws there but I've had pretty bad luck so far on converting. I just don't understand why anyone would continue to smoke now that there is this alternative. I sought it out myself, had set a personal goal for myself to quit smoking before my 40th bday, so I guess I just was in a different state of mind than those who need a little push to try it.

I've only had it a week and I've already sold off (cheap!) all my startup gear to converts. (Got a 510 & 510-t, then used the T with an ego passthrough batt, now using novas & a ce5 w/ ego v mega variable-voltage.. Wish I'd started here to begin with..)

I've solidly converted 1 coworker, who is now on my old 510 gear. I've probably converted 2 others (1 from gas station ecigs, 1 from real cigs). 1 friend just switched from menthols & blu - we went to the local shop yesterday to get her set up w/ ce5s, and when I go back today (they were out of my juice :( ..) I might be taking another friend who saw us with them in the bar yesterday and tried a bunch of flavors etc..

I haven't found anyone I felt the need to fight to convert - either they want to or they don't, and if they do then great. (It is kinda nice that the B&M gives 10ml free juice if you bring a new customer - they even credited me for my coworker since I was buying parts for him yesterday. At this rate I'll never have to buy juice!)

I think it will be easier now that I have seen the $15 clearo starter kits they have - you can get a basic setup for $20 ($5/10ml and the kit) instead of the $45 most online "beginner" kits list for. (Plus the B&M experience - sample flavors, ask questions, etc..)

Headed over there now in fact. Anyone need me to get them anything? :)

I got a friend and a sister that are both either not ready or too stubborn. I even bought a kit for my sister and gave it as a present last year. (She still lives in The Netherlands, Where I am from) But she went back to regular sigs. I converted a dozen people with succes, just to make them aware of the alternative, thats it. But I often think that will power has to be there to make the swap, or it's a no go.

Keep telling her how much cheaper it is, it might do the trick, the next time she wants a new pair of shoes.

IIRC the numbers from a study, 50% of smokers would love to quit. The other 50% are not interested. It is easy enough to figure out who is in what camp.

I am going to give my V2 kit to my sister tomorrow. She does not like smoking, but does it out of addiction as we all have.
Most smokers are very regimented about cigarettes. They smoke at the same time every day. They religiously smoke the same brand. They smoke about the same number of times every day. To introduce an entirely new and misunderstood habit of vaping ruins the normality they understand.

Not to mention, anything with a clear tube that produces ‘smoke’ looks like something illegal.

OTOH with a minimal inclination to quit and a semi decent kit, a majority of people will convert to vaping.

Ok so I am posting this on Superbowl Sunday because I figure everyone would be facebooking ect on today of all days. First off this message is not intended to offend any vapor , vendor , brick and mortar or eliquid supplier...It is just a opinion and suggestion by myself...I am new to the so-called vaping community , And even though I am new to the social vaping community I have been a vaper for almost 3 years...It made me quit smoking so I realize its tremendous benefits as an alternative to smoking analogs. But now my .........I have seen links posted and reposted for the past few weeks concerning this petition that will be submitted to the Whitehouse ... about the future of the e-cig industry...This petition started in the middle of January and is to be submitted on February 13th...And I just dont get it , over 2 weeks and we have a measly 20000 signatures on this thing? Please don't kid yourselves , if we end up submitting a petition with less that 100000 signatures it will be an embarrassment. We have approx 2 weeks to make a serious impact on this issue and I am calling on all the vendors and brick and mortars to lead the charge in signing up individuals for this petition. EVERYONE of your customers that comes in should be signing up for this thing...if you have to offer them a immediate 10% discount on purchases or some other token item you gotta do it...you all have wifi in your stores , you can have someone sign them up while your ringing them out...it takes just a few minutes to register for them. And all of the online vendors and eliquid sellers ...same thing for you, offer an additional discount if they sign up for the petition. And even if you don't want to give a discount ASK your customers to sign up anyway. With everything that gets presented to the Whitehouse (Gun Control, Unemployment issues, Gay Rights and the deficit issues) do you honestly think a petition will 25000 signatures is even going to raise a eyebrow...NOT...stop kidding yourselves , this is your right to do something you enjoy and for many of you YOUR livelihood . Petitions DO make a difference when they are signed by a great number of people. Our elected officials make money by being in office if we show them we care about this issue , then they will care (if only for their own agenda)...as they like their cushy jobs. Now I am a nobody , I do not have a large circle of influence , however I am a consumer of e-cig products and accessories and what brought this to the forefront is that yesterday I visited two vape shops near me for juice, both shops had at least 5-7 customers in while I was making my purchase and NOT one brought up the petition, the future of their shops or the customers right to vape and how that may change very soon. (I actually talked to two of the customers about it and emailed them the link while in line)
I personally have signed up almost 40 people...I cannot believe that the owners of these businesses are so nonchalant about this issue...If it was my business and my livelihood depended on these products I would be all over this like a bum on a baloney sandwich. And I am sure the response to this rant from the some of these businesses will be “we are doing our part and we are contributing”... BULL...... I challenge them to really look at themselves and really assess WHAT THEY PERSONALLY HAVE DONE TO MAKE THEIR CUSTOMERS AWARE. There are over 1500 storefronts and countless online vendors that could have a major impact on this petition. And yet we have a ridiculous 20000 signatures...sorry but that is appalling. After we reach our goal of 25000 we can all sit around and high five each other about our success all while being ignored by the people we need to impress....or we can throw up 100000 plus signatures and make this movement a force instead of a whine.
