The best thing I have seen work is in a fairly tight group of friends. One person converted to APV's about 1.5 -2 years ago. Then another about 6 months ago now we are up to about 7 of us. We do not push it but when the smokers are at the outdoor smoking post they get to watch us vape inside or at least our of the cold/heat/rain/snow. LOL
It takes a while but it grows exponentially. I do no push it but if they ask I give them the speech. Sometimes I will joke kindly that if they converted they would not have to to 30feet from the building in the elements. LOL
I really got some interest when we went to a movie as a group and after asking I vaped during the movie from my seat.

Almost forgot the arguments for.
Vaping almost anywhere I feel like it (being respectful doing it).
Not having to ask for a light.
Not having zippo burns.
No cigar butts.
No nasty smell
Not coughing up butter in the morning. LOL
My doctor likes it a lot better than my 2-4 cigars a day (inhaling all).
Cost can be a factor but not always it can get expensive if it becomes a hobby. LOL
Not having to hear "you can't do that here".
I do get funny looks sometimes as apposed to looks of contempt or digust.

Cons:
Having people ask if you have (censored) in that thing.
Buying more than you need when it becomes a hobby. LOL
Having the ax hanging over our heads wondering if they will ban or tax the hell out of it. (Join CASSA)
Losing an expensive APV as apposed to a pack or a cigar etc.
