I don't know many smokers but I think I planted the idea in one that is now vaping and smoking. The hard part for me is seeing stranger smoking. I have the strongest urge to walk over, whap them upside the head and explain to them about how they can quit those damned cancer sticks by vaping. I wish somebody had done that to me but noooooooo they kept it all to themselves and I had to discover it all by my lonesome. Damn you vaperers.

PS I've ner seen a vaper in the wild.

I have been involved in some kind of sales position for the last 12 years. Because of that, I can pretty easily strike up a conversation with just about anyone, and I have that uncanny ability to sell the weirdest stuff lol. I've converted 4 people in the last 82 days. My wife, a good friend of mine, and believe it or not a guy BUYING A PACK AT THE SMOKE SHOP!!!! Literally, in the smoke shop waiting in line for his newports, I convinced him it was cheaper to buy e cigs it can save you lots of money. He got to the counter and oddly enough purchased a disposable menthol cig, turned around and gave me the nod/smile and left. Now I'm not sure if he stuck with it...but I felt like I was on top of the world that day!

The 4th and most important person I've converted...myself! ;-)

so i have a lot of friends that smoke or smoked in the past. i got an e-cig and started using it. they all tried mine and wanted to buy one. so i recommend some kits and that went good for a while and they all gave up for one reason or another and went back to analogs. i found out that one of them gave there kit of another friend of mine who only smoked when he was drinking. now i see him using it all the time IDK why.. i stopped try to convert the smokers because its not worth my time.

It was always a friend of a friend of mine uses an e-cig.. no really its true..

Its because they dont leave a trace.. like a lingering smell or butts on the ground.. very elusive these vaper people..

No freaking way, they snuff out their ecigs on the ground?

Just kidding. I tried to light up my cigalike and singed it. :(

Whoa, it's always worth the time is it not? Think about it. Most likely you will save a life if you just convert one person. At the least you will give that singular person is years to their life and time with their loved ones. That, my friend, is worth it hands down.

people know the technology is on the market, what more do you want? i have given vape gear and juice to people none of them use at all. SAVE LIVES? you have no proof that E-Cigs save lives. there are no 10 or 20 year long studies to prove such a thing. it MIGHT be safer, but no M.D. i have ever talked to could "recommend" i inhale something other than fresh air.

No, everybody does not know the technology exists. What big city do you live in and what constant stream of advertising do you adhere to? Nobody on ECF worth their salt denies there are no long range studies claiming vaping is "healthy" for you (have you not been paying attention?) but all the reliable initial studies have shown it is a hell of a lot safer for you than smoking dead vegetation and 1,000s of BT chemicals and carcinogens.

There is one smoker at work that I've managed to get to try e-cigs, one smoker that thinks it's (I can't use that kind of language here, but he's an opinionated butthead, kinda like Archie Bunker, but neither funny or nice, lol), two smokers that quit cold turkey off and on, and a guy that is dedicated to his Black and Milds.

I am, however, waiting to catch my neighbor outside smoking with his girlfriend to see if I can get them interested.

You can lead a horse to water....

I very openly and affectionately talk about vaping to anyone who's interested. Only my uncle I've convinced to try an EVOD kit. One of the biggest hang ups with converts is the learning curve and they don't want to use something as "big" as I'm using (EVOD set-up)!! I try to suggest that there are good smaller kits like a Halo G6 or Volt (I've never used either, but I've read good reviews). For some of the people it's the fear of what's in the juice. I can talk til I'm blue in the face about how much better I feel and that all the ingredients in e-juice they already consume in one way or another but it's still a hang up they have.

Fortunately I think I will start to have an easier time soon. A vape shop is opening in my home town in just a few weeks (only the second one in Maine). Thankfully they are pretty reasonable in price and people can at least see in person something before they buy or go online to get it.

Hell, I'm having a [hard] time gently convincing my girlfriend to dump the butts. :(

I've give vape gear to people myself- many in my own family that don't stick with it. I have no earthly idea why except they must just want to smoke.

I think people are talking about the act of quitting smoking saving lives- which it does.

I read a report someone posted here- I'll try to find it if anyone wants to read it-

Quit smoking by 35- add 10 years to your life and survival pattern of someone who never smoked

40's- add 9 years
50's- add 6 years.

You aren't smoking if you vape use inhalers, patches, pills or gum.

commercials for Blu run nation wide on TV. you can find e-cigs in every Walgreens people know the technology is available. my 88 year old grandpa had seen them before i did because his 80+ year old friend uses one. there is a lot more to addiction than just nicotine. kicking analogs and switch to vaping will put you through some psychological and physical withdraws. the owner of my local vape store told me that he has a lot of the one time only buyers, people come in for the pipe, cigar or rolling tobacco and see the huge vape bar setup and buy a kit and never come back for vape gear.. but they come back for more tobacco products. (there vape gear prices are the best in town and on par with internet vendors).

we know how bad smoking is, we know that quitting smoking greatly reduces health risks. but we do not know how bad using an E-cig is in the long term.. and we wont know for a while.

Apparently I need to hone my ninja skills for evading the naughty word police! I can understand if I was calling someone a female dog (something I wouldn't do) but whatever. I wouldn't want all the children on here to learn a bad word from me!

Learned my lesson...
