My unlimited data was an EXTREMELY cheap part of my plan that was offered when Verizon released their first 4G phone, the HTC Thunderbolt. If I use the upgrade, I lose my unlim data. I can buy the phone outright and keep unlim data, but its a $600-$700 phone (I cant remember). I think Ive figured a way around it, but it would mean my wife agreeing to use the new phone for a couple of months, and then it would require upgrading her line since she doesnt currently have a smartphone (and the accompanying data plan).
