The Prettiest in NeverNear
A puppy can be acclimated to most any situation.Bring them in and introduce them slowly. The cat will probably bat at him the first couple of days. Then he will nail him. The cat has to do that so that the puppy don't get to be the alpha towards the cat. They will work it out. That's not to say he won't go after other cats but chances are there won't be a problem between your cat and puppy for too long. The rabbit I'm not so sure. They don't fight back...That may be a problem.

Ok, posse, what's your take on Siberian Huskies? Anyone own one?

Our dog is pretty old now, and my husband wants to get the kids a puppy. I've never done the puppy-shopping thing, all of our dogs up to this point have been adult rescues.

I'd like either an Australian Shepherd or a Husky, and the kids have chosen Husky. So I've been researching the breed for months and I think we'll be ready to adopt soon. My only concern is the cats and the bunny. I've read that their prey drive is strong. My sister has a husky/lab and he tries to get the neighborhood cats.

I'm wondering if I can acclimate a young husky puppy to living with small animals, or if I should just look for another breed.

Thoughts?

Victor and I still have issues with chickens. Some dogs can't get past "It runs therefore I must catch it". We've tried everything, all the way up to a shock collar. He's good for awhile, then takes a dash at them. ugh. He just can't help himself. So chickens are on one side of the fence, and Victor is on the other. He stares....

So basically, the key is "I am alpha, this is my bunny, and you will leave it"?

Edit: not that I plan on leaving the bunny and dog alone together, I just want to minimize the chance of an accident

Exactly. Husky like to please. They will catch on to the fact that bunny is part of the family, but you're right to get a puppy. I wouldn't trust an adolescent or an adult to catch on to that so quickly.

Well, the cats are pretty free to roam. But they don't take any crap either. The dog we have now is terrified of two of our cats, and the other has made the dog her own.

Seriously, the dog protects her. When the cat and dog are out front and a strange cat walks down the street, my cat will rear up and take a step towards the strange cat and the dog will see this and jump between them and stare down the other cat. It's hilarious. But she won't chase cats. I think our other two cats have put the fear of god in her. Maybe the cats can help "train" the new puppy, too. lol

Edit: but I meant to say... The bunny would just have to have her cage-free time out back when the dog is indoors. When they're both indoors, the bun will be caged.

Morning Posse...All male dogs are wearing diapers here in Nevernear..Except Rums cause he's human. They can't seem to keep their leg down so I had to help them with that...

If I ever catch a dog with a leg up in my house he'll find himself castrated on the spot. :grr:

Well my day just got suckie. I was finishing up the returns that I started on Friday. Two boxed. Both had to get weighed. I had help for the big box. 184lbs. So, I pack up the second box after the last guy heads out for the day, knowing it would be lighter. I put it on a cart, roll it over to the scales, lift it up, and as I set it down, *RIIIIIIP*.... while putting down the 109lb box on the scales, my pants ripped. Nearly in half. They werent even tight!
