So check this out:
The guy I sold the boat to knew that I really didnt want to sell it. He knew that I just couldnt afford the repairs. Well, after dumping several thousand dollars into it, he said it runs like a Corvette on the water. He's replaced the carb, converted the belt driven fuel pump to an electric, the bilge pump, redone all the teak wood trim, the gas tank and all the lines were cleaned out, new water hoses, exhaust boots, "race" pitch prop, the paint has been sanded and buffed, carpet was installed, all of the electronics in the dash were replaced, new ignition switch, fiberglass work around the fuel tank, out drive was serviced, new LED transom light, new radio, AND he's put new wheels and lights on trailer. Its now completely legal since it's passed the USCG inspection. His GPS clocked him at 68mph.
In short, he has put a LOT of time and money into it.
Well, now, he's texted me saying he's strapped for cash. He wants to sell it back to me, but I had to turn him down since there was no way I could afford the $2500 (which is still a great price considering the nearly $4000 of work he's put in to it). So, he's said that he would be willing to trade my bike plus $750 for the boat.
What has me thinking this would be a good idea is, if the boat is now a good off as he says it is, its easily worth $4000-$6000 now, with the trailer. I could enjoy it for most of a summer, and sell it before the end of the summer while people are still wanting to buy boats. Then take that money and buy a newer/better bike.
I need to talk to the wife to see what she thinks...

We're with Sprint, but need to change that. We can't use our phones at home, no service. But Sprint worked best when we were OTR. Now I am looking at US Cellular, they say I'll have coverage here. hmmmm, maybe.

Ahhh, nothing like the feeling of fear when I woke up, seen my battery was still charging, and knowing some time today there will be a "rut roah shaggy" moment.
I'm just wishing the land lines at the huts were working. It's strangely quiet. That might not be a bad thing.
You might be on to something here. But wait... Given that Fall is already here and good days to ride the bike are/may diminish... But then again you wouldn't be able to enjoy the boat either over the Winter and you would have to store it for the next 6 months and pay HOW much more for his work to get it into shape... Wow, wake me the heck up! You unloaded the piece of crap and got your money back out of it and you found a good deal on a bike that you like to ride and NOW you want to buy it back!??? Hum, I must be missing something here.
