I'm really sorry to hear about Cocoa James.

We use Greenies Pill Pockets if we forget to put the pills in the food, but my dogs eat anything including rocks, so a few pills in their food isn't normally a problem. We'll also use a glob of peanut butter, a cube of cheese, even balled up white bread. Basically just about anything big enough to fit the pill and disguise the odor, but like I said my dogs eat anything.

Hopefully you can get Cocoa to take them somehow so you can spend a little more time with her.

Whe I have to give pills to my dogs I have to put it way in the back of their throat so they have no choice but to swallow it.

Mrs E cant do it by herself. Cocoa is far from a mean pup, so we are never worried about her biting us, but she thrashes like youre trying to kill her if you try to shove a pill down her throat. Even when I do it, I need Mrs E holding her down

Victor will eat anything too. His best were the acorn and tennis ball as both got stuck. Jake on the other hand inhales his food, then spits out the teeniest pill. Go figure. They are worse than kids some days.

Mr V is MIA this afternoon so I am trying to be both of us.
Cocoa is picky. She has always loved bacon and chicken though. The only time she's ever gotten into the trashcan, it was because there was chicken in it.

Where'd Mr V run off to?!?

Good news mod turned up.:lol: was put somewhere safe for me. All is good.

Whats a Greenies Pill Pocket? and its obvious I need one.

Now that we know she'll eat the chicken, Im going to try giving it to her like a treat, just small pieces at a time, and try to hide a pill in a larger piece.

I hope we get more time with her.... Even the kids are noticing she's not herself lately. All conversation Mrs E and I have about her is either in private, or in code, and even the code has to be said carefully. Kathryn may be an airhead, but she's too smart for her own good sometimes.

Don't tell me you fell for the "I'll be right back"..Just sit here in the dark routine...Hahahaha
What she meant was"I'll be right back after lunch"."I'm not turning on the lights because I'm an underpaid servant to the machine that is healthcare and if you think this is bad wait till Obamacare" Bwah ha ha....

Hi!
Finally getting a change to pop in. I missed everyone!!!

We're still waiting for our sample bottles to ship, they are on back order. blech.

On the upside, I lived through my doctors appointment and no one got hurt. It was close for a bit, the x-ray gal put me in the x-ray room, said she would be right back, closed the door and left. Um, how about leaving on the lights??? And coming back??? ugh.

I use my Xoom more than my laptop lately.

I recorded Big Brother and started watching it but I'm too tired. I'm turning off the TV and reading myself to sleep. goodnight folks.

I wish my Hairdresser would be so nice as to join me in a bite to eat. She's too busy rolling on the floor laughing at my hair..I just pay and leave...

Looks like I missed everyone. It also looks like I'm not the only one who didn't check in today. I didn't see James, hope everything is okay. I got up late today so I had to go straight to work and then tonight was naily wine night (not quite the same ring as hairy wine night, but oh well). My hairdresser and I decided to go get a bite to eat after she got off work and I just got home a little while ago. All in all, work and rain aside, it was a really nice day!

Of course I maybe had a bit too much to drink, so this is hello and goodbye, I'm going to pass out. I'll see you tomorrow. Sleep well!

Oh no...That's awful.People are such jerks sometimes...
Good news china order arrived just in time. Had a mod stole at work yesterday. Either out of the car or off my desk. Hoping it was from the car cause only my fellow workers could have taken it from my desk. I don't want to think it was one of them.

They're squishy treats with a built in pocket that you put the pill in and close over it. They even come in chicken flavor. I've never tried one personally, so no telling what they really taste like. You can get them at PetSmart, most likely in the aisle that has the vitamins etc...

James,I am so sorry.I have a dog that's a pill detector.I roll it in butter and stick it down his throat and hold his mouth shut until he swallows. He knows meds a mile away...I don't know if you would be comfortable doing that but it does work.

Hey folks. Just wanted to give everyone a quick update of whats been going on... Like FV said, Cocoa isnt doing so well, and its not exactly a happy time at home.

Starting Saturday morning, we kept finding that one of the dogs was getting sick around the house. At first we thought it was Charli, because she likes to graze like a sheep in the back yard. Then Sunday afternoon, Mrs E saw that its was Cocoa. She gave her all day Monday to see if it would clear itself out, and Monday evening, the the vet told her to boil some rice and add a touch of chicken broth to see if it would stay down. It didnt. Then we started noticing Cocoa was having a hard time standing up and sitting/laying down. Tuesday, when she got sick yet again, Mrs E called the vet and made an appt at took her that afternoon. After giving her an IV of fluids to combat dehydration, they did some blood work. Last year, her liver enzymes were higher than the "normal" range. This time, they were well below. Meaning that last year, her liver was starting to fail, and now, it seems like it is finally failing. The next step was to get an ultrasound of her liver, but since we cant afford it, and there is nothing that can be done if it is liver failure, we declined it. The vet gave us a special kind of canned food, and about 4 different meds that she has to take a couple times a day, mixed in with the food. Tuesday afternoon, she did ok with the food and the pills mixed in. Yesterday morning, Mrs E gave her the food/meds, but Cocoa figured out that there were pills in it. She ate the food, going as far to lick the pills clean and leave them on the plate. Yesterday afteroon, Mrs E tried breaking them up into a powder and sprinkling it on the food and mixing it in, but Cocoa didnt even touch it then. As of now, though she seems to be drinking enough water, she hasnt eaten anything since yesterday morning. After another call to the vet, Mrs E is boiling some chicken and will try shredding it up with the meds sprinkled on/in it. If we dont see any improvement in her appitite, she's going to starve herself to death. If she eats, but the meds dont work, she's going to die from liver failure and dehydration from the constant vomiting. But the vet has already told us that if, by the beginning of next week, she isnt better, we need to start thinking about having her put to sleep.

***Edit***
Mrs E just called and said Cocoa ate the chicken, but she didnt put any meds in it.
