Hiya Posse.
Wednesday was beYOND terrible. We got to the airport at 7am. Our flight was at 9:30. I go to the counter to get our boarding passes. We had checked into the flight Tuesday. The screen popped up with a message saying my itinerary had changed. By "changed", I mean "cancelled". They cancelled our flight to Chicago, and rebooked us on one to frickin' Newark, NJ. At 3:30. We were in the airport from 7-3:30 with three kids. So, we board this little Lear Jet lookin' plane, and get to Newark. From the time the plane landed, we had 20 minutes to get from one terminal to another terminal at the other side of the airport. Less than that if you count the time we had to spend for potty breaks. We were going to grab a bite to eat since they didnt serve meals on the following 6 hour flight from Newark to LA. But we didnt have time. After we got to the right terminal, Mrs E asked what time they started boarding. I checked my watch and told her "now". We looked awesome, a family of five running through the airport. We were able to buy "snack boxes" for nearly $10 each on the flight. I refused to spend the $8 per tv to have DirecTV on the flight. Once we landed (6 hours later), there was a plane still at our gate, so the pilot told us we would have to wait about 10 minutes. 45 minutes later, we were able to get off the plane. We hurried down to baggage claim, and couldnt find our flight on the board to figure out which carousel our bags would come down. They had our flight from Newark listed as "New York". Got our bags, and the first thing I did was down an entire carto of House in like 10 minutes. We hopped on the shuttle to get to the rental car place. My friend had prepaid for it, but didnt tell me that we could use the "express lane" or whatever they called it. I get up to the counter, tell them his name, and hand over my license. They said that a prepaid rental is non-transferable, so he had to be here to get the van. Great. I call him, and he has to leave dinner with his family and his soon-to-be-wife's family to come get us. We stop by a Jack In the Box since its about the only place still open at 1:30 in the morning, and get to the hotel. We check in, get up to the room, and we are greeted with one bed and one couch. For a family of five. It was supposed to be two beds and a pull out sofa. I go downstairs, and talk to the lady, and she says that there are no other rooms available. Ok, I didnt realize that the sofa was a pull out, but we still needed a cot. They finally brought one up, and we got the kids settled after they finished eating. We had been on the go for 21 hours. I had planned on getting my tux that day, and going out that night with my friend for a mini-bachelor party. Thanks to United Airlines, that didnt work out. So yesterday, we made a trip to a store to get cereal, milk, bread, lunch meats, etc. Its too expensive to eat out every meal for a family of five. Then my buddy and I went to get my tux. Thankfully, that part went well. It fit. So, I started on the way back to the hotel at 4:00. It took 30 minutes to get from the hotel to the tux store. It took an hour to get back to the hotel. Total distance, 12 miles one way. I get to the room, and the whole family is still sleeping (naps). I couldnt believe it. According to the invitation, we had less than an hour to get to the rehearsal. After a frantic 30 minutes, we get ourselves and the kids ready and get to the address on the invitation, 30 minutes early. But no one is there. I call my friend and he asks where the hell I was. The rehearsal had started an hour previous at a location that wasnt on the invitation. Ungh. Back in the car. We did one quick run through with Melanie and CJ. ONE run through. I really hope they do ok.... Anywho.... After that was dinner at an Italian restaurant. The fresh pasta was amazing, but the chicken parm was....well, it was a let down considering they made everything fresh to order.
Today, Mrs E is already losing her freakin' mind. Even though the only thing we have planned is the "mini-bachelor party" tonight. We are going to go back to the store for another box of cereal and jug of milk for the morning. Then we are probably going to head to the beach. The water temp is only 62-64, so there wont be any swimming, but they kids will be able to say theyve been to the Atlantic and Pacific oceans.
Ok, thats all. I just wanted to check in and let yall know what was going on!
Tiff, be strong. You are a better mother than many people in the world.
JD, its a good thing you're a great father considering what all you have going on.
