Howdy folks. I think the suckie part of my day is over. I hope.
Instead of doing a full inventory count, I got spot checked. You might think "well, thats better than a full count, right?" And you would be wrong. He would give me a part number (and no one uses part numbers) and I would have to find it, pull it out, and show it to him so he could verify serial numbers. It wouldve been faster and easier to do another full count. And I almost had a problem. I had one part number that I had a quantity of 5. 4 were in one cabinet, 1 was in another. I found the four with no problem. But I couldnt, for the life of me, find the 5th. He marks it as missing, I can tell my manager is about to poop his pants and kill me at the same time, and we continue on. After he's satisfied that we really did have everything, he wanted to leave to go to my other spares location. I had to stop him and ask for five more minutes to find the "missing" card. I knew it was there. If it wasnt, it wouldnt have been on his report. Not to mention I did a full inventory check yesterday, and it was there then. I end up pulling everything out of both cabinets checking every serial number. I eventually found it. It was in the second cabinet, but in a box that hasnt been touched in at LEAST two years, and incorrectly labeled. Thankfully, it wasnt even my handwriting. We continue on to the second site. As the <insert any bad word you wish> starts taking his own little impromptu tour, I start setting up getting ready for more spot checks, and my manager comes up to me and says "I couldve KISSED you when you found that card". The second site went with no problems.
In celebration of that part of my day being over, I ate too much for lunch. Now I need a nap, but I have to take some scrap cables/wire to be scrapped. I think I would rather have the nap.
