It feels like it took forEVER. A pack is only $4.36 after tax (cheapies) so I wasn't accumulating savings very quickly.
Looks like my wish list is around $250 though. I guess my next break even date will be a ways off.![]()
Believe it or not, I have finished painting baseboards, window frame, and doors in my bathroom. As well as scrubbing the front of the cabinets in both bathrooms and sweeping the house. I'm about to move on to vacuuming the bedrooms then start chili for the crackpot for supper. Hubbys enjoying some recliner time..![]()

I wish I lived somewhere where I didn't need air conditioning.
I'm not about to suffer through summer in Florida without central air. MAYBE if I lived near the coast. We're too far inland for the nice breezes so all we get for summer is hot and humid.
Edit: But our winters make up for it.![]()
And what I learned in HI, having A/C in the house keeps the creepy-crawlies away!Geckos, scorpions, centipedes and yard roaches don't like A/C.
Good evening all. Today royally sucked. We had an alarm come in on an HVAC unit. I went to check to see what it was, and FOUR of the 6 units in that area were down. The temp has to maintain under 75 all the time. It was almost 90.
That $100k project we had... what a pain. The engineers kept trying to blame me that we didnt have the materials on hand. No, jackasses, you have to ORDER THEM.
My manager was less than thrilled to see the pile of material that still had to be checked in. His jaw dropped when I showed him the amount of stuff that I had already done. And then dropped farther when I explained that in two days I had three carts stacked up higher than I am tall.
I stayed until about 7pm to try to get caught up. An endeavor I failed miserably at. I had to miss Kat's practice tonight to do it too.
During lunch, I was able to pick out a few bikes I liked on craigslist. Came home and showed them to the wife, she took my list of six and chopped it to three. Thankfully, it was the three I liked the most. Now, its just a waiting game. Waiting on the guy to actually buy the boat. Then talking it over with Mrs E to see if "we" want to buy a cheap bike outright, or finance a couple thousand dollars for one.
But for now, Im going to bed. I have a feeling its going to be a rough day tomorrow too.
Haha! Nooooo! You WANT the geckos!! When we lived on Guam (where we had no A/C, but it wasn't so humid and stuffy), we would catch them and bring them inside. Geckos eat the skeeters! (edit: they eat roaches, too!)
Maybe that's why I don't really mind spiders. Anything that eats mosquitoes is welcome in my house. We actually have a pet spider in our bathroom. She's been hanging out in the window for a couple of months now. I won't kill her because on occasion I find dead mosquito and ant bodies in her little web. We just have to watch her and make sure to squash any egg sacs that appear. One's fine, we don't need an infestation of baby spiders in our bathroom!
Oh I agree with you!We didn't have A/C in HI, mostly because we moved there from Norfolk and it was a 200% improvement!
We didn't get scorpions or centipedes very often, and the roaches were really "yard roaches" and stayed outside. You didn't want to walk in the yard when the sprinklers were on though, because they'd all start climbing up your legs to get out of the water! 8-o
Ok...I'm home, I'm bushed, I'm behind on all the posse news, but I'll try!
James: I hope you're getting OT for all this extra work. Your project teams deserve to be fired for not managing their projects properly. I'd be happy to help with any bike input I might be able to give. I've been riding since I was 8, rode for a living for 5 years in my previous life.
JD: Kayaks are a blast. We used to kayak the back bay in Newport Beach, California. Daybreak in a kayak is a transformational experience.
Air conditioning: One of my fondest desires is to live somewhere I don't NEED A/C. I'd be happy living in a refrigerator. I love cold weather. If it was up too me, summer highs would be 82.
Cockroaches: I'd rather wrestle a diamondback with my bare hands. If one ran up my leg I'd have to be institutionalized permanently. Give me snakes, spiders, wolves, bears, rabid pit bulls...ANYTHING but cockroaches. It's a battle not to turn into a screaming adolescent girl when I get caught near one of those things. Palmetto bugs??? NOT ON YOUR LIFE.
I'm sure I missed a ton, but that's all the news that's fit to print (and that I remember)!
Good morning! TGIThuriday!
Morning posse

I thought most people used a pipe, not a pot. That's a lot of crack.

Oh shut the front door....

There's a break even point? Who knew. With my love of new shiny gadgets, I don't think I'd ever break even. But rather than cough, smell bad and waste money, I have shiny things and can breathe. I think I'm ahead.
Roaches scare me about as bad as things with g-hopper legs do. I have never seen a roach here, but would probably burn the hut down if I did. *shudders*
When I was in Puerto Rico I saw those flying Palmetto things. Holy moly, that's the stuff of nightmares! I think I spent the majority of my time there asking "Is there one on my back, in my hair?" I was happy to get on the plane.
Sweet tea will remain OOS until I get a reliable replacement for the flavoring that arrive goopy. blech.
Victor is not 3 legged anymore, no x-rays, hooray!!!!!
Mr. V said yes to A/C! We're looking at one of those "mini-split" things to see if it would work at hut 2. *fingers crossed*
