Well.... we lost. I kinda figured we would. Most of the girls on the other team have played for me before, and I knew their talent level. But it wasnt as bad as I anticipated. It seems having so little time between the last regular season game and the All Stars hurt them as much as it hurt us. It just takes more time than we had to take a few girls from a few teams and turn them into one cohesive playing machine.
My catcher...I love that girl. She has enough heart and desire to play to make up for the girls on the team who half ... everything. Twice, she was plowed over trying to make a tag at the plate. Both times she didnt get the out. One of them, the runner took her down at the knees and hurt her. But she said she wanted to keep playing. The next inning, she got hit on the fingers while batting. Then, as a runner, she took her lead off of third base, and the catcher made to throw the ball to try to get her out. She turned and dove back to the bag, but as she made the dive, the ball hit her right on the spine in between her shoulder blades. I heard the hit from across the field. But, again, she refused to come off the field.
Aside from the lack of practice, our biggest problem was the sun. It was blasting right into the player's eyes, mainly on the left side of the field. And naturally, most of the hits went that way. Tomorrow's game is at 11:00am, so hopefully, it wont be as bad for them.
Oh, and the final score was 6-13, and we were catching up in the last inning. Unfortunately, we ran out of time.
Now its bed time. Goodnight Posse!!!
The season will be over when we either win four more games (three of which would have to be played tomorrow), or lose one more.
And there wont be many, if any, camps for the kids. Im tired of her complaining about "not being able to deal with the kids." Shes a mother and parent. Not a friend. If they dont behave, bust their asses. Make them do chores they dont like to do. Yelling all the time doesnt work. Spankings and manual labor do.
